QAMISHLO, Syrian Kurdistan,— The Rojava
Coordination, established by civil society
organisations, has called on the KDP to recognise
the Autonomous administration in Rojava (western
Kurdistan), made up of 91 parties, civil society
organisations, and representatives of the Kurdish,
Arab, Syriac and Chechen peoples.
The Coordination drew attention to the fact that
Rojava has become a safe region for the peoples of
Syria, with tens of thousands of people taking
refuge there, while announcing it had initiated a
humanitarian aid mobilisation. "Democratic
autonomous Rojava, a refuge for all peoples, is
waiting to share your love and your solidarity."
The Rojava Coordination issued a statement regarding
the latest developments in Rojava, emphasising that
the policies of the dominant forces in the Middle
East had brought chaos, bloodshed and death, whereas
the Kurds had developed democratic autonomous
regions and self-government.
The Coordination statement drew attention to the
fact that the crisis in Syria is seen as the most
crucial problem in the middle East, adding that
Geneva II had been a failure.
"The International powers do not wish to resolve the
crisis in Syria in the short term. The aim of the US
is to realise its Great Middle East project with
small statelets, to take control of North Africa,
and by this means bring the radical Islamists in
Syria under control. Russia wants to maintain its
influence in the Mediterranean, protect its
determining role in Middle Eastern politicswww.Ekurd.net
and continue its economic relations with the Assad
regime, while on the other hand using the tactic of
encouraging Chechen groups to focus on Syria,
thereby distancing them from Russia."
This strategy and policy, while ensuring the
maintenance of the regime in Syria, will also not
lead to a resolution, the Coordination said, and
added that the Syria regime was playing a delaying
game in order to prolong its existence, listing
Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the KDP as "forces
that are the losers in the tragedy of Syria".
The Coordination stressed that support these states
have given to groups such as Al Qaeda has given
legitimacy to the Syrian regime, rather than bring
about its collapse, and the regime has used this in
order to remain in power.
The coordination pointed to the cantons of Rojava as
an example of a democratic model for Syria, adding
that the KDP's statement to the effect that 'the
Regional Government of South Kurdistan does not
recognise the Rojava cantons' had been received
negatively.
Issuing an appeal to the Regional Government of
South Kurdistan and the KDP, the coordination called
on the Regional Government of South Kurdistan to
free itself from the influence and control of
Turkey.
"No one can ignore the Canton administrations of
Rojava Kurdistan made up of 91 parties, civil
society organisations, and representatives of the
Kurdish, Arab, Syriac and Chechen peoples. The
Regional Government of South Kurdistan must listen
to the demands of its people and support Rojava
Kurdistan", the Coordination said and underlined
that they expected the KDP to put an end to its
negative policies towards Rojava, and work towards
establishing a relationship based on fraternity and
friendship.
The statement continued; "We expect the KDP to take
steps in line with Mr Öcalan’s letter to the
Regional Government of South Kurdistan. Rojava is
not a threat to anyone. The Goran Movement, the
second biggest party at the recent elections in
South Kurdistan, has congratulated the cantons in
Rojava and given their backing. 13 other parties in
South Kurdistan, including the Kurdistan Islamic
Union, have stated their support for Rojava. We
salute their national approach."
The Rojava Coordination also thanked civil society
organisations and humanitarian organisations for the
support they have given to Rojava.
The coordination stressed that Rojava was considered
the safest region of Syria, announcing that it was
initiating a 'humanitarian aid mobilisation'.
Noting that tens of thousands of Arabs and Syriacs
took refuge in the Kobani canton of Rojava a few
days ago due to the crisis in Syria, the
Coordination said that today they wanted to launch a
mobilisation to provide humanitarian aid.
Democratic autonomous Rojava, a refuge for all
peoples, is waiting to share your love and your
solidarity, it added.
