THE KURDISTAN NATIONAL CONGRESS
On 23/1/2004 the Kurdish political forces
in Western Kurdistan that is attached forcefully
to the Syrian state held a meeting in London.
This was according to the project submitted two
years ago by the Kurdistan National Congress in
order to hold such a meeting for all the Kurdish
parties, organisations and personalities in
Western Kurdistan.
At 5 pm of the evening of Friday 23/1/2004 the
Kurdistan National Congress held a general meeting
for the Kurdish political forces in Western
Kurdistan attended by a large number of
organisations, institutions and political and
scientific personalities from Western Kurdistan.
In addition a number of Kurdish personalities from
all parts of Kurdistan that are attached to the
countries of Iraq, Turkey and Iran as well as a
number of Kurdish personalities from Lebanon
participated in the meeting as an expression of
solidarity with the Kurdish people in Syria in the
wake of statements made recently by the Syrian
president Bashar Al-Asad against the Kurdish
people and the independence of Kurdistan.
A declaration of the Western Kurdistan Government
in Exile was discussed and studied then it was put
to the vote of the participants and the results
from the ballot box were read as follows: 88% said
yes to declare a Western Kurdistan Government in
Exile.
The meeting also discussed the question of
spreading the field of referendum to include all
parts of Kurdistan and the result of voting was
90% for.
In addition the question of establishing a
Kurdistan organisation that demands the
independence for Kurdistan and 93% voted for this
one.
In the face of this highly positive result for all
the discussed questions, a number of committees
were formed from those who voted approvingly, and
a suggestion was made to hold similar meetings in
all European countries and spread the ballot paper
on the internet and other forms of media
communications.
During the meeting the following participants made
speeches: Shirwan Rashid, Jawad Mella, Sabir
Kokaii, Sulaiman Jaziri and Muhammad Zagrossi.
There were also valued contributions from a number
of participants among them: Dilsoz khan, Rebuar
Fatah, Abdulqader Dabbaghi and Sheik Latif
Mariwani.
The meeting was opened by a one minute silence for
the martyrs of independence of Kurdistan and the
Kurdish national hymn.
The meeting was ended by Kurdish national music
and songs performed by the Kurdish artists Bakir
and Bekas.
