Press Release
On Sunday 21st of March 2004 at 10:00 AM the
Kurdish Community in America will be holding a
peaceful demonstration.
This demonstration has been organized to condemn
the Syrian government’s massacre against the
Kurds, which is a violation of human rights by the
Syrian Regime. Under the current circumstances,
the Kurdish nation is under attack from the
following three evil nations: Syria, Iran and
Turkey. It is very important to hold this upcoming
demonstration in order to put some pressure on the
US Government to do what is right and change its
policies towards the Kurds everywhere and consider
them as allies. So we are urging Kurds and
sympathizers of Kurds to join us in this
demonstration, united as one voice, to demand our
right to self-determination and to condemn the
Syrian security forces slaughter of the Kurds. We
feel that with Sunday being Newroz, our cause will
have much more of an impact and draw a larger mass
of demonstrators. Thus, getting the attention of
media coverage so we can be heard. The benefits of
getting attention from the Western and US media
are very important. Sometimes getting exposure
from media coverage helps in shaping US policies.
In 1991, the media was instrumental in getting the
US to change its policy by creating a no fly zone
in Kurdistan of Iraq.
The demonstration will be held on:
Sunday, March 21, 2004, in front of Syrian Embassy
in Washington D.C. between 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM
and march to Lafayette Park - The White House at
11:00 AM - 12:00 noon
Your support and participation is needed.
