Kurds try to overpass central government's
rights, Iraqi MP
Baghdad: State of Law MP Shakir al-Daraji stated
that the difference between the central government
and the Kurdish region is the violation of the
latter of the constitution over the first's
authorizations. Daraji added that "there is no
problem of trust between the two sides, but the
Kurdish region tries to overpass the authorities
given by the constitution to the central government.
He specified the overpass as connected with
Newroztel, which has foreign affiliations, in
addition to oil contracts, oil smuggling, arming
Peshmerga and the disputes on implementing Article
140 of the constitution. Daraji called to resort to
the constitution to solve all differences, not

Restored Article 140
political deal contravenes with constitution
Baghdad: Independent MP confirmed on Moday that the
restoration of Article 140 of the constitution on
the disputed areas was done by "a political deal"
which is "in violation of the constitution". In a
statement issued Monday, that the formation of a new
committee on Article 140 was done by "a political
deal between the conferees in Najaf and Erbil
meetings". Iraqiya bloc, the Kurdish Alliance and
the Sadrist Ahrar bloc held a series of meetings in
Arbil (28 April, 2012), Najaf (19 May 2012) and
Arbil (28 May, 2012) during their attempts to
withdraw confidence from Premier Nouri al-Maliki.
The attempt did not succeed for many reasons,
including the non-approval of President Jalal
Talabani, not having enough votes and the change in
Sadrist stand towards reforms. Sayadi added that the
work of the committee will be "in violation of the
constitution and the law", according to the
statement. aswataliraq.info
