ERBIL-Hewlêr, Kurdistan region 'Iraq', — The
minister of Foreign Relations in Kurdistan Regional
Government KRG Falah Mustafa Bakir stressed that the
Kurdistan region should have the 17% of the Iraqi
general budget, pointing that the Kurds were
flexible in accepting this percentage till a census
made.
He added that Saddam Hussein's regime granted the
Kurds 13-15% at a time the Iraqi population was less
in comparison with the present increase.
Commenting on pending questions, Bakir suggested
that "the best solution is to resort to the Iraqi
constitution that will make the road map to solve
all problems, taking into consideration that Iraq is
suffering problems in services and security, as well
as no clear policy on the future of the country and
the existing problems between Baghdad and Erbil".
He charged the central government of evading
solutions, but resorts to political maneuverings.
On the oil problems, he pointed out that "it the
parliament endorsed the oil and gas law, we would
not have such problems".
"The participation of the American oil companies
proves the right oil policy adopted by Kurdistan,www.ekurd.net
according to the Iraqi constitution", he elaborated.
He concluded that the National Conference should
"have a political will to solve the question, based
on the Iraqi constitution".
