Baghdad to meet Maliki
Baghdad: The Kurdish Blocs Coalition (KBC) announced
Monday the arrival of former Deputy Prime Minister
Barham Salih to Baghdad to meet Prime Minister Nouri
al-Maliki, parliament speaker Osama al-Nujaifi and
political leaders, noting that Saleh would hear
about the reform paper prepared by the National
Alliance (NA) bloc. Coalition member Hassan Jihad
said: "The visit will lead to creating a better
atmosphere for dialogue, especially after the return
of President Jalal Talabani from Germany." The
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced last
week that it would resume its oil exports next week.
The KRG demanded Baghdad to pay the dues of foreign
companies operating in the region. The Kurdistan
Region decided early in April to stop its oil
exports due to the federal government’s non-payment
of the dues of foreign oil companies operating in

China seeks to participate
in Kurdistan Region’s reconstruction process
Erbil: The Chinese ambassador to Iraq expressed his
country's desire to participate in the
reconstruction process in Kurdistan, pointing out
the need for opening Chinese diplomatic
representation in the region. According to an
official statement issued by the Kurdistan Regional
Government (KRG) Chinese ambassador Ni Jian
discussed with the chairman of the foreign relations
department in the KRG Falah Mustafa ways to
strengthen relations with the region in all areas."
The statement quoted Ni Jian as saying that he
"admires the progress and development taking place
in the Kurdistan Region in all aspects if compared
with the rest of Iraq," adding that they will
encourage all Chinese companies to participate in
investment projects in the region. Mustafa said he
believes there are great opportunities to strengthen
relations between the Kurdistan Region and China,
stressing the need to open Chinese diplomatic
representation in the region, as China is
economically important in the world and has
abilities that allow it to perform an important role
in the reconstruction of Kurdistan.....aknews.com
We continue to unify
Peshmarga forces, says Imad Ahmed
Erbil: The Kurdistan Region's Deputy Prime Minister
Imad Ahmed announced that part of the process of
unifying Peshmarga forces has been completed and
they will continue the process. Ahmed accompanied
the Minister of Peshmarga Jafar Mustafa and his
deputy Anwar Osman and visited regiment 1 of troops
brigade 1 of the united forces of the Kurdistan
Region near Kirkuk on Saturday. Ahmed confirmed that
they are working seriously to unify Peshmarga forces
under one law, train forces, provide weapons and
meet Peshmerga demands. The Kurdistan Regional
Government believes stabilizing security and meeting
the demands of residents in disputed areas is the
government's responsibility, added Ahmed. With
regards to the Peshmarga budget, the deputy said:
"The Iraqi government must think of a basic solution
to the Peshmarga budget in accordance with the
constitution, which is part of the defense system in

Qaradakhi, Azizi and Waysi
to sing in Ramadan Eid in Erbil
Erbil: Kurdish singers Aziz Waysi, Naze Azizi and
Dilnia Qaradakhi have decided to organize a party
for Ramadan Eid in Chwarchra Hotel in Erbil.
Chwarchra’s management said in a statement that the
three Kurdish singers would sing on the second night
of Ramadan Eid. The statement said: "Today is a new
era of Chwarchra Hotel. The hotel always was the
home of singers and artists and will continue to
be." Azizi and Waysi male are both from Iranian
Kurdistan. Qaradakhi is from Iraqi Kurdistan.

Security Directorate denies
threats against Gorran
Erbil: A Kurdish MP from the Gorran Movement
announced that there are direct and indirect threats
against members of the movement but the Security
Directorate denies such claims. Nariman Abdullah
said: "Since the first day we came to the parliament
we have felt the threats. Many times I have been
attacked and injured. Many times a group of armed
men have opened fire on me." Abdullah added that
after the February 17 rallies the threats increased.
Then later the threats reduced. They are still
investigating to find rational evidence about the
threats, added Abdullah. A source from the Kurdistan
Region's Security Directorate replied: "There are no
threats against any MPs and we are not aware and
have no clue about what they said. "If any members
of parliament felt that their life was in danger he
or she can inform security branches and if they have
proof about the threats they can register a

Erbil continues integration
of Peshmarga and confirms responsibility for
security in disputed areas
Erbil: The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)
stated Sunday that it has implemented the first step
to integrate the regional guard forces (Peshmarga)
and will continue to complete the process within the
legal framework, confirming its responsibility for
protecting the disputed areas. In April the
Kurdistan Region decided to integrate the Peshmarga,
which includes members from the Patriotic Union of
Kurdistan led by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and
the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by the Kurdistan
Region's President Massoud Barzani. A government
statement issued on Sunday quoted Deputy Prime
Minister Imad Ahmed while visiting members of the
Peshmarga stationed near Kirkuk. He said: "We are
seeking to unify the Peshmarga forces and pay more
attention to training and armament." Ahmed was
speaking during a Ramadan banquet held on Saturday
at the barracks of the first regiment of infantry,
accompanied by the Minister of Peshmerga Jafar
Mustafa stationed near Kirkuk. Ahmed said the
Kurdish authorities "consider themselves responsible
for providing security and stability for all areas
disputed between Erbil and Baghdad”. aknews.com
