Three journalists in Sulaimaniyah were awarded Soran
Mama Hama Award.
Lvin Magazine gave the Soran Mama Hama award to
three journalists, Shwan Muhamad (R), Nabaz Goran
(L) and Niyaz Abdulla.

KIRKUK/SULAIMANIYAH, Kurdistan region 'Iraq', — Four
years after his murder, Kirkuk and Sulaimaniyah have
commemorated the death of Kirkuk journalist Soran
Mama Hama.
Ahmed Mira, editor-in-chief of Lvin Magazine
addressed the ceremony in the Culture Café on July
21, discussing how the Kurdistan regional authority
hides from revealing the identity of the murderers.
Soran was working for Lvin Magazine before being
killed in Kirkuk.
Lvin Magazine gave the Soran Mama Hama award to
three journalists, Shwan Muhamad, Nabaz Goran and
Niyaz Abdulla.
Kirkuk also commemorated his death through
cooperation with the Kurdo-cide (CHAK) organization,
whiwas attended by many journalists. Relatives of
Soran, along with a Kurdo-cide representative
addressed the ceremony in Kirkuk talking about how
the legal case’s freeze.
Latif Fatih Faraj, a journalist from Kirkuk said,
“Our authority does not want journalists to cover
the facts. They want us all to think alike.” He
urged to make next year the year of revealing the
killers of Soran. Representative of Kurdo-cide
Rebwar Sarab also urged the police to show the
preliminary results of the investigations, saying
“If they can’t investigate, then tell us!”
At the end of the ceremony, Kurdo-cide distributed
awards to the family of Soran, the Public Library,www.ekurd.net
Muhamad Sabir as the oldest writer in Kirkuk, and
Anjam Saeed as the youngest member of Kurdo-cide.
Soran Muhamad Aziz is also known as Sorani Mama Hama,
and was born in 1986 in Kirkuk. He was a student of
Kirkuk’s Fine Arts Institution and Lvin Magazine’s
head of the Kirkuk office. He was murdered at night
on July 20, 2008 in front of his house by some armed
men.
