Few days ago I read on few Kurdish sites the news
about Kurdistan military budget been greater than of
the United States military budget, the
article was originally written by
Michael Rubin who is well known for his anti Kurdish
government rhetorics.
Let me ask Mr. Rubin, why doesn't he write on the
facist state of turkey which is oppressing 15 and
over million Kurds? why doesn't he write about the
Roboski
Massacre? what does this guy want from the only
"official Kurdish region" in the ME !? Wont he agree
that Kurds have struggled for so many years they
have only got a "region" !? while the surrounding
states are oppressing ,killing and occupying our
lands! while he is "worried" about corruption in the
only "freed Kurdish region" !?, We have the
opposition parties who are taking care of the
corruption so there is no need for outsiders. By the
way I am an independent writer I do not work for any
party or government and I never will but I will
express my opinion if I see something that is not
right and fair.
I think any reasonable person can not deny the fact
that Kurdistan Regional Government KRG has wide
spread corruption within its Administrations,
despite the promises by the President of the region,www.ekurd.net
Massoud Barzani to implement reforms. But let us not
forget that the Kurdish government has really been
established since 2003 properly as before from 1991
and onwards after it got the region cleared of The
Baath party due to the uprising and the no fly zone
imposed by NATO, the region was suffering an
international embargo as well as one from its 4
neighbors including Iraq.
I urge the Kurdish sites to do their own research
before they publish such propaganda news, which will
only serves the interest of our enemies, for example
after the 2011 demo in Sulaimaniyah, many Turks and
Arabs used those videos which were uploaded on the
Kurdish opposition party websites, they used these
videos against me to support their arguments, on few
political forums when i was accusing their fascist
governments regarding oppressing their Kurdish
citizens while they would reply "your own government
is oppressing you so what do you think we would do
to you?" and then they would post those videos.
Based on the information Rubin has published,
supposedly KRG has allocated a budget for its
security forces that is 20 times greater than of the
American military budget. Now lets look at the
information taken from "Wikileaks" as well as "US
defense department" about the yearly military budget
of United States:
US Budget for 2010
"For the 2010 fiscal year, the president's base
budget of the Department of spending on "overseas
contingency operations" brings the sum to $663.84
billion.
When the budget was signed into law on October 28,
2009, the final size of the Department of Defense's
budget was $680 billion, An additional $37 billion
supplemental bill to support the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan was expected to pass in the spring of
2010, but has been delayed by the House of
Representatives after passing the Senate".
Here we can see the US military budget for the year
2010 was $663.84 billion and $37 billion alone was
spent on Iraq and Afghanistan, so how is it that the
KRG's military budget is 20 times greater than US
military budget? how is it some $300 million KRG has
allocated even comparable to $600 billion US
military budget!!?? . Therefore i urge our Kurdish
websites and citizens to be careful about what they
publish next time without doing their own homework,
since KRG is not a recognized state with its flag in
UN, we have to be very careful what we publish,
despite the wide corruption KRG suffers from, it is
better than been ruled by Turks Persians and Arabs,
if not then those who disagree can go and live in
north Kurdistan (turkey's Kurdish region) and
eastern Kurdistan (Iran's Kurdish region) or even
live in Baghdad which many southern Kurds specially
some from Sulaimaniyah surprisingly support Maliki
against Barzani, and let's see how long they can
last living there?.
