Kurdistan Region has right
to export its oil, says Gorran
Erbil: The Gorran List in the Iraqi parliament said
the Kurdistan Region has a right to export oil
produced from its soil. Mohammed Tofiq said: "The
political situation in the country is moving towards
the worst because there is no intention by the
parties to talk seriously and find solutions." Tofiq
added that oil export is the right of the Kurdistan
Region but through understanding, because without
understanding the crisis in Iraq will be
exacerbated. The office of Iraq’s Deputy Prime
Minister for Energy Hussein al-Shahristani said a
few days ago that the Kurdistan Regional Government
or other provinces in Iraq have no right to sign
deals with foreign companies to export oil, gas or
petroleum products. Last Thursday world news
agencies reported that the Kurdistan Regional
Government began tracking exports oil to turkey. The
Kurdistan Region's Minister of Natural Resources
Ashti Hawrami said in conference in Istanbul last
Wednesday that the regional government will export

Dust waves will continue
until Tuesday evening
Sulaimaniyah: The director of Sulaimaniyah Metrology
Dara Hassan said the dust waves will continue until
tomorrow (Tuesday) evening and visibility in some
areas in the Kurdistan Region will be between one to
two kilometers and under one kilometer in Erbil.
Heavy dust wind hit the Kurdistan Region on Sunday
due to the low pressure of the hot season coming
from India, said the director. Hassan described the
dust waves as abnormal, explaining: "Despite the
abnormality of the dust waves it reduces the
temperature to under 40 degrees”. Before the
dust waves came, the temperature in the region was

Erbil police deny
kidnapping of child in city
Erbil: Erbil police have denied that a child was
kidnapped in the city, adding that media reports of
the case are fake. Erbil citizen Umed Ibrahim said
on some media channels that unknown armed men
attacked him and his wife with bricks at 12:20am in
Ayinda neighbourhood, north Erbil and after hurting
the couple the men kidnapped a three-year-old child.
Ibrahim added that the attackers were driving
government cars and some of them were wearing
security uniforms. Erbil police spokesperson Karwan
Abdul Karim said the husband and wife went to
Kasnazan police and complained after the incident.
Abdul Karim added that the wife was in a previous
marriage and had a baby before meeting Umed Ibrahim.
The couple later separated and the ex-husband took
his child on Sunday and did not kidnap it. The
courts have yet to decide whether the child should
remain with the father or the mother...aknews.com
Duhok airport project to
begin within two months
Erbil: Kurdistan’s Prime Minister, Nechirvan
Barzani, has announced that the foundation stone for
the new Duhok International Airport will be laid
within two months. “We want to create an organized
foundation for an optimistic future,” said Barzani,
addressing the issue of the current shortfall in
Kurdistan’s infrastructure. The premier’s news came
in a statement also unveiling broader government
investment in a range of public works including a
healthcare project to build hospitals in the city,
town and districts of Duhok. The announcement also
comes after Barzani’s meeting with Duhok governor
and officials, at which he also discussed the
construction of more schools in the Kurdistan
