BDP Conference on Local
Governance to take place in Diyarbakır
Diyarbakir: In a press release on Wednesday, Peace
and Democracy Party (BDP) announced that the BDP
Conference on Local Governance will take place at
Diyarbakır Cegęrxwin Cultural Center on 01-03 June
2012. The BDP statement remarked that the conference
will be held with an aim to discuss the practices of
BDP’s sense of local governance and to address the
processes of a democratic, free and equalitarian
future. The statement underlined that the model put
forward by BDP for local governance bases on social
organization and an attitude that goes beyond the
usual concept of local governances in line with its
participative, democratic, ecological, gender
libertarian and equalitarian paradigm. Noting that
anti-democratic, unlawful policies of intimidation
have targeted BDP’s local governments because of
this model which prioritizes an alternative living,
the statement added that “The concept of repression
and intimidation, which started soon after the great
achievement by BDP in March 2009 elections, have
