Emirates Airline to launch flights Erbil,
to Iraqi Kurdistan

DUBAI, UAE, — Emirates Airline is to launch
flights to Erbil from August 12 in what will become
the third Iraqi destination served by the
Dubai-based carrier.
The service to the capital of Iraq's Kurdistan
region will initially run four times a week before
becoming daily from September 1, 2012.
It will be operated by an Airbus 340-300 in a
267-seat, three-class configuration, and will have
capacity for 13 tonnes of cargo.
Emirates currently operates a daily flight to the
Iraqi capital Baghdad and a four times a week
service to the coastal city of Basra.
"Since we first launched flights into Iraq we have
seen demand for our services there increase
tenfold," said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed AlMaktoum,
Chairman and CEO.
"Emirates has been offering a well utilised cargo
service to Erbil since February 2011 and we are
confident that our new passenger service will be
filled in both directions."
Erbil is Emirates 11th new route to launch this
year, following services to destinations including
Dublin, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Dallas Fort
Worth,www.ekurd.net
Seattle, Lusaka, Harare and Ho Chi Minh City.
Later in summer, the carrier will start flights to
Barcelona, Lisbon and Washington DC.
