Barzani says we are to give
priority to Bulgarian companies, willing to invest
in Kurdistan

SOFIA,
— The president of Iraq's autonomous Kurdistan was
in Bulgaria on Thursday seeking investment in the
region's farming, health and construction sectors,
the government's press office here said.
"We will prioritise the Bulgarian companies who are
willing to invest and do business in our region,"
regional president Massoud Barzani was quoted as
saying during a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko
Borisov.
Barzani and Borisov agreed to cooperate in building
strategic infrastructure, especially in dam
construction, as well as in the farming sector.
Healthcare was another potential area of cooperation
mentioned by the Kurdish leader.
Some Kurdish companies have also shown interest in
investing in Bulgaria, he added.

as agreed at the meeting between Bulgarian Prime
Minister Boyko Borisov and President of Iraq's
Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani, the press office
of the government announced.
“Bulgaria has year-long
traditions in the friendship with the Iraqi nation
and to us it is important for our country to be able
to develop mutually beneficial exchange with one so
important component of Iraq as Kurdistan is,” the
Bulgarian prime minister remarked.
In his words, with the knowing and experience in
working in the counties in the region the Bulgarian
business and engineering companies may successfully
contribute to the building of a new Iraq and
Kurdistan.
“We are to give a priority to the Bulgarian
companies, which are willing to invest and do
business in our region,” said Massoud Barzani.
He added there is willingness for capital
investments on behalf of the Iraqi nation, too.
“The healthcare is one of the fields in which
Bulgaria has impressive experience and I would like
to stress that the experience of your experts is
important for us,” Barzani added.
Barzani arrived on Thursday for a one-day visit to
Sofia, where he will also meet with Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov and speaker of parliament Tsetska
Tsacheva.
According Barzani's Face book blog, Massoud Barzani
arrived on Wednesday night in Sofia, Bulgaria, in an
official visit.
Barzani to head to the United States of America to
conduct talks with US president Barrack Obama.
During Washington visit, it is expected that the
situation in Kurdistan will be discussed.
Following the talks, Barzani will head for Hungary
to discuss bilateral economic questions.
