Muhammed Fethullah Gülen is a Turkish preacher, author, educator, and Sufi Muslim scholar living in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania (USA). He is the founder and leader of the Gülen movement. Phoro: ANF

The Turks are playing their last card with the country's Kurds and their movement for independence. The AKP government attempts to re-Islamize the Kurdish masses with the help of Gulen movement and the agreement of the Turkish armed forces; in that understanding, first comes Islam and then the ethnic identity of the individual Turkish citizens... In that way, they can re-Turkify the Kurdish masses, but also through intermarriage with Turks.

I cannot say whether the Turkish authorities have the agreement and enjoy the assistance of the USA in their various campaigns against the Kurds, as the poster suggests... I do not think so, or better say I do not hope so...

A part of the Kurdish people - unfortunately - supports AKP, hopefully not at the expense of their ethnic, linguistic and cultural identity.

But the Kurds are caught between two major evils in Turkish history : Islamism and Kemalism, and they need to fight both of them.

I think that ultimately the Kurds will gain what they seek, while the Turks will have to accept the bitter reality... The Turks cannot win this war, unless they commit another of the multiple Genocides they have committed, first against the non-Muslims and then against the non-Turks, but this time the Turks cannot do this anymore, as they could do it back in 1910's, 20's, and late 30's. Times have changed even for them.
