His Excellency Massoud Barzani,
President of Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq
Hawler- Iraqi Kurdistan.
January 18, 2012
Dear President,
We are writing this urgent letter to your Excellency
to express our deepest regrets and growing
frustration over your administration’s consistent
failure to address the widespread corruption plague
facing our nation and country in spite of numerous
pleas.
Prior to reelection, you vowed to seriously tackle
the rising corruption dilemma in Iraqi Kurdistan,
but very disappointedly, no positive initiatives
have yet been taken in this regard.
We are all abreast of those defiantly committing
such unlawful acts versus citizens and state. Strong
evidence does exist to substantiate such charges, in
addition.
We sincerely expect that you will take the essential
actions against those implicated and summon them to
the court of law to account for their heinous
offences. An independent auditing state institution
is also urged to be founded for the purpose of
accountability and transparency. Inaction against
the perpetrators will be contempt to the rule of
law, hearten fugitives and give rise to further
bedlam.
Kurdish citizens hold strong faith in the power and
aptitude of our practiced law enforcement agencies
to impose the rule of law and insure citizens’
protection.
Your Excellency, no one should be held above the law
as you had quoted yourself. The dominant tribal
culture of favoritism and nepotism must be
invalidated to ensure equality and justice for all
alike.
We thank you very much for your prompt attention to
this pressing matter.
We look forward to hearing/receiving a response from
your office soon.
Yours Sincerely,
A group of Kurdish Citizens
