Resources Minister injured in traffic accident
Erbil: North Iraq Kurdistan Region’s Natural
Resources Minister, Ashti Hawrami, has been injured
in a traffic accident in the city of Erbil on Monday
night, a Kurdistan media source reported on Tuesday.
“The motorcade of the Minister of Water Resources in
Kurdistan Region, Ashti Hawrami, had collided in a
traffic accident in Erbil, the source stressed,
adding that the Minister could have been injured in

Barzani discusses formation
of Supreme Council for Kurdistan Parties with
Islamic Opposition Leader
Erbil: The President of northern Iraq’s Kurdistan
Region, Massoud Barzani, has discussed with the
Leader of the Kurdish Opposition’s Islamic Group,
Mulla Ali Bapir, the formation of a Higher Council
for Political Parties in the Region, calling on
Kurdistan’s Parties to share in taking political
decisions, a Kurdistan Presidency official reported
on Tuesday. “Barzani and Bapir have discussed today
(Tuesday) the re-establishment of the Supreme
Council for Political Parties, as well as the
establishment of an Integrity Commission and the
issuance of a Law on the Elections Commission, with
the participation of all parties in taking the
political decisions,” the press Secretary of the
Region’s Presidency, Faisal Dabbagh said. He quoted
Bapir as saying after the meeting that “the general
situation in Kurdistan Region is suitable for the
settlement of all problems,” adding that “all eyes
are directed towards the Kurdistan President’s steps
to bring closer the different Iraqi parties,”
calling for “necessity to respect all resolutions,
issued by the Region’s President and cooperation
with him to implement those resolutions.”

Kurdish Peshmerga man
killed in clash with Mosul village inhabitants
Mosul: A Kurdish Peshmerga (Kurdish Region’s
fighters) element has been killed in a clash with
inhabitants of a village west of northern Iraq’s
city of Mosul on Monday night, when a Peshmerga
force tried to arrest one of the village
inhabitants, a Ninewa security source reported on
Tuesday. “A Peshmerga force broke through Sahal
Hamad village of Zummar township, 90 km to the
northwest of Mosul on Monday night, to arrest one of
the village’s inhabitants, thing that pushed its
citizens to clash with the force, killing one
Peshmerga man and wounding one of the citizens,” the
security source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. The
security source said that the Peshmerga force had
arrested 7 of the village’s inhabitants, most of
them relatives of the wanted man, who escaped,
adding that Iraqi Army forces interfered to put an
end for the clash. Zummar township is one of the
areas in difference between the government of
Kurdistan government and the Central Government in
Baghdad, covered by Article 140 of the Iraqi

Sulaimaniyah Adm. demands Barzani to practice
decentralization system
Sulaimaniyah: The Governor of northern Iraq’s
Kurdistan Province of Sulaimaniyah and the
Province’s Council have demanded the President of
Iraqi Kurdistan, Massoud Barzani, to practice the
decentralization system of administration in
Kurdistan, during his current visit to the Province,
its Governor, Kawa Abdullah told Aswat al-Iraq News
agency on Friday. “Barzani has conferred on Friday
with the Governor, the Province’s Council and
Administrative officials, discussing different
administrative problems of the Province,” Abdullah
said. “Kurdistan Region is in need to practice the
decentralization system and that the local
administrations become the source of decision, along
with the Parliament’s acceleration of discussing the
elections law for the Region’s provinces,” he added.

Kurdish Leader charges US
with supplying Turkey with special planes “to Kill
Kurds.”
Baghdad: The Legislature for the Kurdish Alliance in
the Iraqi Parliament, Mahmoud Othman, has charged
the Americans on Sunday with “collusion” in the
bombardment of border areas in Iraqi Kurdistan,
through supplying Turkey with special drones to
bombard the Kurds. “The Americans have taken a
decision to supply the Turkish side with drones
(planes without pilots) to kill the Kurds in
Kurdistan,” Othman told Aswat al-Iraq news agency,
pointing out that “the Americans are playing a bad
role in the Region.” Othman said that “the Turkish
bombardment is scoring encouragement by the Iraqi
position, who is keeping silent till this moment,
without issuing any comment on what is happening in
Iraqi Kurdistan,” adding that “the Kurdistan
Region’s government is embarrassed and does not
possess a firm attitude to stop the bombardment of

Conference on land-mines
and war victims held in Erbil
Erbil: The northern Iraqi Kurdistan city of Erbil
has witnessed on Tuesday the opening of the National
Conference to help victims of land-mines and wars,
under patronage of Iraq’s Ministry of Environment
and attendance of Kurdistan Ministries, land-mines
offices in Kurdistan and the UNDP. “The Conference
aims to legislate a special law to help victims of
land-mines and war remnants, as well as people of
special needs,” the Iraqi Environment Ministry’s
Legal Advisor, Qassim Mahmoud Bahram told Aswat
al-Iraq news agency. He also said that “the
Conference also aims at rising vigilance for
commitment to the Agreement for Banning land-mines
and the special Agreement for people of special
needs and its relationship with helping the victims
of land-mine explosions.” On her part, the
Australian Ambassador to Baghdad, L. Sax, said in a
speech at the opening of the Conference that
Australia possesses a broad experience in
elimination of mines and had helped in allocating 2
million dollars to raise a large number of mines in

Call to recognize Kurdish
language in neighboring countries - conference
Erbil: Kurdish language conference ended last
Thursday demanding a special law and recognition of
neighboring countries in this language. Preparatory
Committee member Professor Yousi Shareef told Aswat
al-Iraq that the conference, among other matters,
suggested issuing a Kurdish-Kurdish dictionary in
Arabic and Latin letters, and unifying touristic
placards in Arabic and Latin languages. He called
Turkey, Syria and Iran to recognize the Kurdish
language in their constitutions, similar to that in
the Iraqi constitution, as well completing higher
studies in Kurdish language. The conference was held
in Erbil on 19-22 September 2011, under the slogan (
