Iraqi Kurdish activists form civil
organization to support establishment of independent
State of Kurdistan

Kurdistan region 'Iraq', — Kurdish activists and
cultured announced on Sunday that a civil
organization was formed to support the establishment
of an independent State of Kurdistan affirming that
present circumstances are suitable for independence.
The organization’s media spokesman Niwar Bashour
affirmed on Sunday in a press conference attended by
Alsumaria news that Kurdish activists and cultured
have formed an organization to support the
establishment of an independent State of Kurdistan.
The organization joins renowned figures namely Bader
Khan Al Sanadi the editor-in-chief of Attakhi
Newspaper which speaks for Kurdistan president
Massoud Barzani.
“The organization will pressure politicians in aim
to establish a Kurdish State affirming that
circumstances are adequate for establishing a
Kurdish State especially that the United Nations
resolutions confirm people’s rights to decide their
fate”, Bashour said.
“Kurdistan is ready economically for it has oil and
agricultural resources that could contribute to the
establishment of the State”, he added. |

The organization which is the first to be authorized
by Kurdistan Regional Government KRG will work on
increasing national awareness among people.
The foundational statement of the organization read
that a Kurdish State can be announced by virtue of
UN Charter Article 1 and the two human rights
conventions of 1966.
“It can be relied on Article 1 of the Iraqi
Constitution which asserts that the Constitution is
the guarantee of Iraq’s unity while there remains
many Constitution articles unimplemented like

The organization’s activity will be restricted as a
first stage on Duhok Province and later on it will
expand to other provinces, the statement concluded.
Since 1991, the Kurds of Iraq achieved self-rule in
part of the country. Today's teenagers are the first
generation to grow up under Kurdish rule. In the new
Iraqi Constitution, it is referred to as Kurdistan
region. Kurdistan region has all the trappings of an
independent state -- its own constitution, its own
parliament, its own flag, its own army, its own
border, its own border patrol, its own national
anthem, its own education system, its own
International airports, even its own stamp inked
into the passports of visitors.
