Jalal Talabani says Nawshirwan Mustafa
secession was aggressive

Kurdistan region 'Iraq', — Iraqi President Jalal
Talabani believes that the secession of Change [Gorran]
movement leader Nawshirwan Mustafa was peaceful but
turned aggressive, a source told Alsumaria.
President Talabani revealed that Mustafa has taken
10 million dollar without agreement thereto and
registered in his name a number of real estates and
institutions which he used to aggress the Patriotic
Union of Kurdistan PUK and its command.
In an interview with the Kurd Newspaper, Iraqi
President Jalal Talabani affirmed that this incident
is a difficult stop in the history of the PUK.
Nawshirwan Mustafa has resigned at the end of 2006
from his position as the PUK’s Secretary General and
formed an independent movement called “The Change
List”. The movement rallied 25 seats in Kurdistan
Parliamentary elections last July.

Nawshirwan Mustafa, a former deputy in the Kurdish
government, formed the Change List in 2009 as a
rival to the ruling PUK and the Kurdistan Democratic
Party KDP. His party scored a success in Kurdish
elections in 2009,www.ekurd.nettaking
several seats from the incumbent parties. He left
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan party (PUK)
in December 2006
Gorran enjoys wide support in Kurdistan region.
Gorran is challenging
Talabani's PUK and
the KDP of regional president Massoud Barzani and
accuses the parties of corruption.
Gorran is the strongest opposition movement in
Iraqi Kurdistan with 25 seats in the 111-member
parliament.
