Singer Tatlises has been shot last night after finishing his television show

ISTANBUL, — Famous Urfa-borned Kurdish singer Ibrahim Tatlises has been shot in the head, last night, in the Sisli area of Istanbul.

According to the first reports, Tatlises, 58, and his assistant, Buket Çakıcı, had just finished working on the singer's show, Ibo Show. They had left the studios of Beyaz TV at around midnight.

According to the reports, the singer was attacked by unknown assailants who shot at him. Tatlises was shot in his head,

Doctors treating the folk singer at Maslak Acibadem hospital said he had suffered a brain injury.

Police is looking for assailants that fired the shots from a black car and escaped from the crime scene.

The singer went under surgery, and he is reported to be in serious condition.

Ibrahim Tatlises, famous also in Greece and across the Middle East, has recorded more than 30 albums and has also acted in numerous films.

Besides being an acclaimed artist Tatlises had a hand in business and was part of a consortium investing in major construction projects in the Kurdistan Region’s Erbil province in Iraq's north.

After his Arab father died when he was a child, Tatlises was brought up by his Kurdish mother. He sang in both Turkish and Kurdish languages.
