Kurdistan region 'Iraq', — On Thursday Feb 17th
Kurdistan Democratic Party KDP started opening fire
at demonstraters in Sulaimaniyah and killed one
Rallies against corruption,www.ekurd.netpoor basic services and
high unemployment in Iraqi Kurdistan have
2 killed and
more than 47 people wounded.
The rare demonstrations in the autonomous Kurdistan
region were the deadliest since the 2003 US-led
invasion that ousted Saddam Hussein.
For decades, the KDP
of regional president Massoud Barzani and the
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan of Iraq's President
Jalal Talabani have lorded over the region.
Kurdish protesters chanted, "Government resign", "Work for
the unemployed" and "The corrupt must face justice".
