SULAIMANIYAH,
Kurdistan region 'Iraq', — “ Gali Kurdistan”
Kurdish TV satellite station conducted a two-part in
depth interview with Mala Bakhtiyar, a leading
Kurdish politician in Iraqi Kurdistan and a member
of Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of
Kurdistan, pertaining to recent riots that broke out
earlier in “ Badinan” regions.( December 2, 2011, a
group of angry mob attack liquor stores and set on
fire massage parlors in Zakho in the Dohuk
Governorate).
The first part of the interview was broadcast as
slated. However, the second part was blocked to be
aired after a KDP-led (Kurdistan Democratic Party)
delegation from KDP’s political bureau consisting
of: ( Masrour Barzani, Fazil Mirani and Mahmood
Mohammad) purportedly rushed to Sulaimaniyah to
convene an emergency meeting with officials from
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan on the subject matter.
In the second part of interview, Mala Bakhtiyar had
lashed out at KDP officials for deliberately
orchestrating the “Badinan” unrest, touched on
potential unification between Gorran,www.ekurd.net
the largest opposition force with PUK and warned KDP
of retaliatory responses, had it maintained its
antagonistic behaviour toward Kurdistan Islamic
Union (an Islamic party which KDP charged it with
stirring up the riots).
Some of Mall’s criticisms are believed to be so
harsh that they been broadcast; it could have
without doubt resulted in suspension of ties between
the two ruling parties.
Malla had to call the TV station to call them off
from airing the second part of his interview.
