Kurdistan nationals gathered at Whitehall to demonstrate a recurrence of the burning down and attack of media bureaus in Sulaimaniyah. The group that composed of men, women and children had placards written in English and Arabic.

Tensions between the Kurdistan Islamic Union KIU party who accuses the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party KDP of torching its offices in Duhok Governorate earlier this month.

Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU) – an opposition political party represented in the Kurdistan Parliament in Duhok province of Iraqi Kurdistan on December 2nd, and set several buildings on fire. Thirty people including 20 policemen were reported injured in the rampage,www.ekurd.net which followed Friday midday prayers in the town of Zakho.

KDP-KIU tensions started in February when the KIU joined protests in Sulaimaniyah that first called for political reforms, improved living conditions and an end to corruption.

A similar attack occurred in 2005 when four senior KIU members were killed.
