on Bahdinan Riots
In the name of God most Gracious and Merciful
Official statement by Kurdistan Islamic Union
Politburo on Bahdinan Riots Citizens of Kurdistan
Region… Political Parties… Human Right
Organizations… NGO Organizations…
While we were, Kurdistan Islamic Union, starting to
normalize the political situation in Kurdistan
region, shed light on internal dangers and preparing
together to encounter any external threats and
citizens of Kurdistan Region were waiting for reform
process and responses to their demands and needs. At
this sensitive period, on the occasion of Dec. 6,
2005 catastrophe,

for another time we
witnessed attacking and firing center of 13, 3 and
branch of Simel, Office of Speda Satellite Channel,
Radio and TV of Kurdistan Islamic Union, by one of
the most powerful party in these cities and
districts, without having any lawful, ethical and
political justification.
These riots are against the starting points of
plurality, freedom of politics, tolerance,
stability, and security of Kurdistan Region. The
responsible ones in this situation are officials in
Kurdistan Region, Asayish forces, police, province,
official political organizations, namely Kurdistan
Democratic Party as the responsible party in these
cities.
We declared and reaffirm that members of KIU have
not been any part of riots and attacks that happened
in Zakho, we also state that KIU does not have any
clerics in Mosques that become responsible to
encouraging people to do what they done. Finally, we
severely condemn these riots and attacks,www.ekurd.net
we also reaffirm our position as opposition party to
support reform process and demands of citizens,
these riots will not affect us.
We also demand Presidency of Kurdistan Region,
Kurdistan Regional Government, Kurdistan Parliament,
Political Parties, NGOs and organizations,
representatives of United Nation and Consulates that
have their statement and position regarding these
riots and attacks to record their historical
responsibility. At the same time we call our members
to be patient, to avoid any abnormal and irregular
reaction, and implement demands of their centers.
