May 9, 2010

ERBIL-Hewlęr, Kurdistan region 'Iraq', — The Kurdish Prime Minister of the Kurdistan region, Barham Salih, told journalists that the Kurdish security services have new clues about the death of two students this week, journalist Sardasht Osman (23) and Mohammed Tahir Saidi (16).

Salih condemned the kidnapping and murder of the two students and said an investigation was started. He said that the security services have good clues about the back ground of the murders.

The Kurdish PM say the security services have good intelligence that could lead to the arrest of the killers of Mohammed Tahir Saidi.

Saidi was kidnapped for ransom money and his family gave 540,000 dollars for the release of the child. Still the kidnappers killed the young student.

Experts suggest that Sardasht Osman was killed for political reasons. His body was found on 6 May. He was kidnapped from Erbil one week ago and later his body was dumped at the office of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in Mosul. Osman criticized the Regional Government of Kurdistan (KRG).

It is interesting to note that, unlike all other news reports, the pro-KDP Kurdistan Democratic Party news item describes Sardasht Osman as student, and not as journalist,
www.ekurd.netand additionally ignores the fact that he was kidnapped by armed men in Erbil, the Kurdistan capital which is under a strong control of the KDP security forces controlled by members of the ruling Barzani clan.
