Turkey's GAP project is an ethnic & cultural Genocide against Kurds and must be stopped before 2013 to save hundreds of Kurdish villages

March 31, 2010

Steve Tataii, (ekurd.net)

GAP Project of 22 dams mainly in Dersim by Turkey’s Regime to displace over 6 million Kurds & commit environmental & Cultural Genocides against aboriginal Kurds and a large portion of Ag land “Dersim” in the Heartland of “KURDISTAN”.

The ataturk Dam has already flooded 100 villages, misplacing more than 60,000 Kurds many drowned as they refused to leave their beloved homes in villages drowned in their valley.

Steve Tataii, author of several books on Kurds and Kurdistan and
recent U.S. Senator Candidate in the 2006 elections

The Ilisu Dam will be more devastating to some of the Kurdish historical sites such as the ancient city of Hassankeyf over 10,000 years old. There is not much time left to stop this barbaric subtle destruction by the Fascist Turkish Regime of Recep Teyyip Erdogan. The Ilisu Dam project is scheduled to be completed by 2013.

Some ask “How can the responsible Turk elements for this Tyranny live with themselves?” My short response is very simple: “They have absolutely no SHARAF, HEISIAT, NAMUS, nor VIJDAN, and don’t ask me to translate these words, since English language is too primitive to have their exact equal meanings in many other languages particularly in the ancient Kurdish language, but not to disappoint you; the closest meaning I can come up with is “Human Dignity”, “Morals”, and “Conscience”. Turk Regime is simply excused form those human values in their brains, never had them, and never will.

The only way to teach them how to keep up with universal civility is through force, and placing them under military & economic sanctions or else kiss the humanity goodbye in Anatolia, and drag yourselves back to 12th century’s “primitive war mentality”.

It’s not their false by the way. When the West through one of European states’ genius envoys suggested to allow the Ottoman empire’s leftover remain in existence, only reduced to a much smaller size, and called it Turkey; that is when they created the “Sick Man of Europe” with no cure to stop its foolishness, greed of the newly found power leaders of a manufactured animal from the carcasses of a much bigger giant creature already dead, and gone.

What brilliance. The show off envoy to the 1920-1923 League of nations and Lausanne summit couldn’t resist to make use of his “askarious and trishin worms” (the medical spelling may be different) contracted by eating too much of incurred and contaminated pig’s meat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The worms guided his “excited worm stricken brain” into the sick, and diseased way of fellow human cannibalism in making plans to enjoy watching an entire nation bleed slowly for as long as she can bleed. For 90 years so far to be exact, but was it also because of oil fields in Kirkuk & Basra, and the living heartbeats of two sacred Kurdish rivers of Tigris & Euphrates? I doubt that, because by that time he knew Kurds are not greedy, they are kind, and they would be willing to sell their oil, and allow the use of their rivers in consideration of quite reasonable fees.

Yet the wormed brain stricken envoy made it so that all key Kurdish leaders be killed or assassinated, including Sheikh Riza of the Kurdish region our very subject matter is all about “Dersim” country with her gorgeous sacred valleys, and home to the 10,000 years old Hassankeyf, and the only continuously inhabited city in the world under attack by the barbarian Turk regime, a rag tag unworthy group of people with no sense of identity of their own, none that they can be sure of for sure! They also targeted Kurdish Leaders from South Kurdistan Portion namely Sheikh Mahmood Barzenjy, so that the Kurdish people remain stateless for as long as the wormed brain sick man’s hegemony can survive his miserable lowlife existence.

No, it was not just for money, I don’t think so, and that’s what really gets me; that how is it; that the rest of the envoys or representatives from other participatory members of the meetings from 1920 all the way to the 1923 summit fell for such a diabolic unworthy man sent directly from hell!? “I don’t know”, but I do know; that if you start reading the diabolically worded treaty of Lausanne; you’ll quickly stop after the first few pages, because they are the most nonsense,
www.ekurd.netfabricated, conservative, and malicious written pages in the history of post war treaty literatures I’ve ever read, and for good reasons. Because their cowardly planned deed to partition a whole nation of the Kurds with the oldest history in the world was obvious to them it is not just, and it violates any all written international laws before that time, and after it was illegally ratified. They all knew that to take an entire nation of such a great people through a Frenzy of 8, which included the 4 manufactured usurper regimes of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, and Syria; will only be possible by men of unworthy character, with no fear of God, and no value in their human qualities.

Well, I’ll cut through the chase, and again reiterate; that the only way Turkish militarist Sick regime can listen, and stop committing fast approaching looming Genocides against the largest populations of Kurds out of the 4 partitioned Kurdistan; is through force, and being resolute rather than soft, and staying on any slippery slope because of lack of trying a little harder to choose the solid track to make good in your demands to get your message across loud & clear.

Now perhaps if you are one of the key world leaders, and reading this article you’ve gotten my meaning by now. So I’ll stop preaching, and move on to the next page.

There are 19 other dams in the 22 total Diabolic projects intended to conveniently commit (or at least that’s how Turkish regime assumes it to

be) numerous systematic Genocides against Kurds of North Kurdistan mostly in the vast Dersim Area populated by about 8 million of our precious wonderful Alevi Kurds.

After World Bank pulled out of this barbarically intended Genocide series; Turkey was still able to garner foreign support despite great pressure from environmental and human rights groups, and it is perhaps slowly bringing it back on its track.

According to news reports; Great Britain, the number one enemy of the Kurds, has funded 236 million dollars, and German, Swiss, and Austrian export credit agencies had agreed to fund 610 million dollars of the project. Despite the European firms suspending funds by December 2008, giving Turkey 180 days to correct over 150 international standards, and in June 2009 after failing to meet the standards; the European firms officially cut the funds for Ilisu Dam project.

Turkey's Environmental Minister, Veysel Eroglu then announced in a rude manner; that "Let me tell you this, these power plants will be built. No one can stop it". This is the decision of the state, and PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan, committed to the Ilsiu dam Project, and claim Turkey will use "internal" or "other" international funding.

Turkey has succeeded to keep the progress of all these 22 dams quiet, and after doing some search; I can't find a darn piece of fresh news about where all these evil aggression stand, and how Kurdish people of Dersim & other areas in North Kurdistan are dealing with this stressful & abhorrent situation.

I have not met with more environmentally dedicated groups such as in the "WILD" Conference of 1990, which I was a part of, trying to use new tactics to combat this gigantic barbaric method of Ethnic and Environmental genocide by Turkey in the name of providing electricity for Western Turkey, which is absolutely untrue, and apiece of hogwash.

This time I found myself obligated to sacrifice some time again like in 1990, and write this article painstakingly, hoping that some of you Kurdish friends, who speak Turkish, and can translate a little bit of news; can translate what I could not understand in Turkish posted on the facebook in the following Link. If so, please send the translated English text to me at: tataii2003congress@msn.com Thank you, and Spas.

A Video showing nearly all of Dersim valleys 19 minutes long with Kurdish music, and the wonderful Kurdish Woman singer/musician from Dersim itself, Aynur Dogan's "Daye Daye" song is heard toward the middle:

Yes, the movement to stop the construction of some 22 Dams by the Fascist Turkish Militarist regime has continued for years. I wrote one of the first Resolutions to place this Genocide against our precious ancient valleys on a ten years moratorium by UN, and World Bank to complete an Environmental Impact Study, and whether or not Turkish regime's false claims of using these dams to provide electricity for a far distant number of provinces was legitimate & true, which proved to be miscalculated & false.

As you know the Valleys, including the ancient "Hasankeyef" targeted by "Ilsu" Dam , are all full of historical remains from over 10,000 years of our civilization & history (part of our 12,000 years Kurdish civilization), and home to tens of thousands of native plants & animal species in and around the valley bottoms found no where else in the world, and last but not least, home to over 6 million Kurdish inhabitants. This resolution was easily passed in the 1990 "WILD" conference, and together with other similar Resolutions, documents; the movement was able to stop the GAP project for years to come thereafter, soon after WORLD Bank in a surprised move pulled out of the project. At least 2 dams I believe werebuilt, which included "Ataturk", and more than 100 villages were burred under water, misplacing more than 100,000 Kurdish villagers, and drowning many proud Kurds, who refused to move away, and chose to die.

My general reaction after watching the 19 minutes video was best described as:
Tigris & Euphrates are Kurdish Territory in the bosoms of Kurdistan Motherland. It belongs to Kurds from time immemorial. No "Turk" No "Arab" NO "Fars" can claim them other than “Kurd”, the aboriginal. Tigris & Euphrates are inseparable parts of KURDISTAN FOR EVER.Stop messing around with my motherland stupid invaders, and get out ASAP.Death to our enemies, and Long Live KURDISTAN.

GAP project is a part of the continuous ethnocide policy intended to destroy the historical and cultural identity of Kurds in North Kurdistan. In addition, it imposes significant hazards on the health of the neighboring people by increasing the rate of parasitic and other infectious disease incidence. Of course, the "neighboring people" are Kurds too!

Thank you for your feedback on affirming my comment & the additional point on these projects. The negative impacts made are endless destructions, which is why most of them, not yet built, must be stopped by responsible world's able democratic peace loving states very quickly (many of which we keep assuming they truly are democratic, and many others choosing to remain silent, while all of them watch Kurds undergoing the following horrifying terror on regular basis since 1920 to this date in 2010 described in a nutshell:

Vicious assaults on their citizens, hundreds of children arrested, and imprisoned along with thousands of political prisoner adults, their leader illegally kidnapped and imprisoned since 1999, their peaceful political parties declared illegal, their freedom defensive national forces labeled “Terrorists”, their common innocent citizens’ home randomly raided, and damaged in “surprised” unannounced vicious attacks by military, paramilitary, and other Turkish thugs in plain cloth without compensation, their language banned to the point; that after 90 years of such a prohibition & forceful attempts at assimilation into mandatory Turkish language; it is still not back to normal practice in a symbolic gesture of allowing a stupid TV broadcasting in Kurdish under the fascist Turkish editors and organizers controlled by Ankara, trying to impress EU for membership, their mandatory Kurdish military service turned into ongoing murder of Kurdish soldiers regularly, and maliciously blamed on having committed suicide, their villages mostly in Qandil mountains, and Hakkari district bombed on regular basis, their defense forces’ call for ceasefires to sign peace treaties & get general amnesty ignored by Turkish military in dozens of attempts since 1992, their cities kept underdeveloped, most of the best of their Kurdish villages in a large area of Kurdish homeland called “Dersim” being buried under water by dams, displacing hundreds of thousands of Kurdish villagers, regular military assaults on peaceful Kurdish demonstrations in all major cities, towns, and villages, when even Kurdish children have been shot, and killed, their Kurdish Meyers, and politicians being arrested on regular basis, and massively since February of this year, and the list goes on and on and on.

In short; their homeland, people, and their environment are all subjects of assaults, and aggression endlessly since 1920, when Genocides Killed more than 1.5 million Kurdish civilians, and destroyed over 20,000 villages. You call Turkey a Democracy or do you still believe many political experts, and credited human rights investigated assessments are all wrong to recognize Turkey as the number one Terrorist state with the worst human rights violation records in the world? Or will you keep your comments to yourselves, and allow Kurds to continue being persecuted, and terrorized with no end at sight?
Another much more vital point worth mentioning is what I would refer to as the second major "major" false claim by Turkey; that the Dams will be helpful for agriculture, doubling the Ag production. This is so "so" obviously stupidly, and totally wrong; that the person spreading this false vicious news should be arrested, and punished properly, never allowed to make such a deceiving statement again.
He should have explained the exact opposite, which is to say; that the Valleys, and villages left as they are will continue to grow a lot more successfully on their own, and using the THOUSANDS of Water Springs, by easily directing, and redirecting their stream currents into healthy, and larger Ag lands winding around the hills, and reaching natural flat lands.
The Dams would not only be impossible to have a successful Ag cultivation & production after drowning the valleys, villages, and the already existing Ag land base otherwise lost when under water, but it would permanently destroy thousands of plants, and killing thousands of native animal species not found anywhere else in the world, and necessary to keep the balance of nature for their lower & unique land or simply "Homeland" lived in and survived for many thousands of years.
I'm especially referring to the mentioned tens of thousands of spring water sources Kurds call "Kani" in Kurdish, each being their own best source of irrigation system. The Turk claimers of the diabolic assessments are so stupid that they would never know the extent of their stupidity unless they're told enough until it sinks in!
This is why those particular "Anti-Kurd Turks" must leave Kurdistan back to Turk areas in North of North Kurdistan, and never come back or if they're spewing those gibberish from their government offices in Ankara, and Turk cities elsewhere; they should all stay out of Kurdish internal & national affairs in Dersim & other Kurd areas home to over 30,000,000 Kurd citizens of North Kurdistan out of the over 50 million Kurds in KURDISTAN, and shut the hell up. Biji Spas (Thank you)

Finally, today was the 24th anniversary in commemoration with the martyrdom of a most dedicated & decorated giant Kurdish Freedom Fighter Commander, Egid [1984-1986], who lost his life on the line of duty in defense of Kurdish national rights to their land, language, and freedom to Rule themselves by their own Kurd Leaders in Kurdistan.
For this occasion I wrote in Sorani & also Kurmanji Kurdish:
شهید نه مر فرماندار اگید 24مین سالوه گه را گیانله ده سدانی له سالی 1986

Di salvegera 24mîn jiyanjidestdana

FERMANDAR EGID (1984-1986)

Today was also the anniversary of Turkey’s chemical weapon attack on Kurdish Defensive Forces, which killed 14.
