Kurdistan region 'Iraq', — The presidency of the
Iraqi Kurdistan Region
confirmed in a release on
Wednesday that it nominates current Iraqi President
Jalal Talabani for another term.
“Kurds have weight in the ongoing Iraqi political
process and have the right to share conclusive
decisions about Iraq,” said the statement received
by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
It said that it is a constitutional violation to
claim that having Talabani as a president of Iraq
contradicts with Iraq’s Arab identity.
“Those who make such claims are chauvinists,” the
statement said.
