SULAIMANIYAH,
Kurdistan region 'Iraq', — The former stronghold of
Talabani's PUK party, now faces competition of the
Change list. In the last national Kurdish parliament
elections, the Change list managed to get the
majority of the seats in this province.
The famous 'hill' with Gorran's media channel KNN
and headquarters was surrounded by Change list
supporters late in the afternoon after the
elections. "We are celebrating because we are number
one in Sulaimaniyah and Kirkuk. We are very happy
there was no fraud," said a supporter of Change in
Sulaimaniyah.
Officials of the Change list were very happy hearing
the news that the voting was not extended, since
they say during the last Kurdish elections in the
summer, a lot of fraud happened in an extended
voting hour.
