Erbil: The special representative of the United
Nations Secretary General for Iraq (SRSG), Ad
Melkert, has met with the interior minister of the
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to discuss the
situation in Iraq and the northern region, an
official statement said on Tuesday.
“Interior Minister Kareem Sinjari discussed in Erbil
with the special representative of the United
Nations secretary general for Iraq, Ad Melkert, and
his accompanying delegation the political and
security situation in Iraq in general and in
Kurdistan in particular,” according to a statement

Talabani meets with head of
Islamic group in Kurdistan
Sulaimaniyah: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on
Monday held a meeting with the Head of the Islamic
Group in Iraqi Kurdistan Ali Baper and his
accompanying delegation, according to a statement of
the media office of the Patriotic Union of
Kurdistan.
“The meeting, which was held in the Dukan resort,
tackled the political process’s future after
announcing the results of the parliamentary
elections,” said the statement received by Aswat
al-Iraq news agency. “The two sides asserted the
importance of uniting the Kurdish rank inside the
parliament as well as boosting the joint action and
cooperation among Kurdish politicians,” it added.

Halabja victims demand
German gov’t to apologize
Erbil: Families of Halabja city’s chemical bombings
victims demonstrated on Tuesday before the German
Consulate in Erbil city, demanding the German
government to apologize for selling chemical weapons
to the former Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein who
ordered to launch the attacks on Kurds in 1988. “The
German government is involved in selling the
chemical weapons that the former regime used against
Kurds,” Umar Mohammed, the demonstration’s
organizer, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He said
that the demonstrators came with a message of peace,
but the German government is demanded to apologize

Kurdish community in Cairo
prepare for Nowruz
Cairo: The Kurdish community in the Egyptian capital
Cairo is preparing to celebrate Nowruz next Sunday
March 21 which is an annual tradition that the
community celebrate each year in one of the tourist
sites in Cairo. "we celebrate Nowruz every year in
Cairo where we invite the Kurdish community from all
nationalities as well as all the Iraqis living in
Cairo, in addition to the Egyptians to celebrate
this day which we like so much. "Mullah Yassin Raouf,
the head of KPU office in Cairo and the general
supervisor on the celebrations said. About the
preparations to celebrate Nowruz this year, Yassin
said: "We prepared all the requirements of the
ceremony that will be done in a big tourist park in
Nasr City, and we printed the invitation cards and
prepared the artistic platform in which traditional
Kurdish songs and Folklore dances will be presented
in addition to competitions that will be done among
the attending people and speeches will be said for
