record biggest voter turnouts
On Monday evening, March 8, Hamdiya al-Hussaini, a
member of the Independent High Electoral Commission,
announced at a press conference in Baghdad that the
voting rates across Iraq are as follow: Duhok has
recorded the biggest voter turnout at %80, then
Erbil has become second %76, and Sulaimaniyah has
become third %73. And below are the voting rates in
the other provinces of Iraq:
Ninawa %66, Kirkuk %73, ,Diyala %62, Anbar %61,
Baghdad %53, Karbala %62, Babil %63, Wasit %60,
Salahaddin %73, Najaf %61, Qadisia %62, Ziqar %60,
Missan %50, Basra %57, Muthana %61
She also said that the general voting turnout
reached %62 adding that the official preliminary
results of the Iraqi parliamentary elections will be

IHEC re-examines 30 ballot
boxes in Duhok
Duhok: The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC)
in Duhok said it would re-check the data contained
in 27 general ballot boxes and three special voting
boxes. Speaking to Aswat al-Iraq news agency, a
source from the commission has attributed the
process to technical problems related to the receipt
of the boxes. Each box includes at least 400 votes,
the source noted. Parliamentary elections took place
on Sunday (March 7) with the participation of
millions of Iraqis to elect a new parliament. A
special voting that included detainees,
hospital-bound patients and security personnel who
are working on the election day took place earlier

Duhok registers highest
turnout, Missan lowest
The highest turnout of voters during Iraq’s
parliamentary election was registered in Duhok,
followed by Erbil, while the lowest was reported in
Missan, the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC)
said. “The turnout reached 80 percent in Duhuk, 76
percent in Arbil, 73 percent in Sulaimaniya, Kirkuk
and Salah al-Din, 66 percent in Ninewa and 63
percent in Babel,” an IHEC official, Hamdiya al-Husseini,
said.On Monday (March 8), the IHEC said that the
participation percentage in the general election
reached 62 percent. The results of the election will
be announced this Friday, according to the

Barham Salih says
government to form higher council for defending
woman
Erbil: Kurdistan’s Prime Minister Barham Salih has
congratulated the region’s women on the
international day, asserting that his government
gives greater attention to women and their problems,
an official statement said. The premier said that
the government prepares a draft law on forming a
higher council for defending women and their
problems, said the statement received by Aswat
al-Iraq news agency. The International Women’s Day (IWD)
is marked on the 8th of March every year.
