“Invest Kurdistan, Inc (IKI) and Kirkuk Investment
Commission (KIC) Signed an MOU to Build Power Plants
and a Refinery in Kirkuk, Iraq”
March 31, 2010
La Jolla, CA/Kurdistan region,
'Iraq',— Invest Kurdistan, Inc. (IKI) recently
signed a critical MOU with the Kirkuk Investment
Commission (KIC). The agreement awards Invest
Kurdistan Inc. KIC’s permission and full cooperation
to build two fossil fueled power plants, a solar
power plant, and a refinery. “Not only will these
projects improve the lives of the people of Kirkuk,
but they will also create many jobs”, Robert Yae,
the founder of IKI, says.
The two fossil fueled power plants along with the
solar power plant are very crucial to the people of
the region. Iraq, including Kirkuk, has been for a
long time suffering from the lack of electricity.
|
 |
Even though the two
parties realize the three power plants will not
solve Kirkuk’s electricity problem entirely, they do
hope the power plants will solve a large portion of
the problem.
Taza is the planned location of one of the fossil
fueled power plant. The Taza power station will have
the capacity to generate 260*1 MW of power. The
second fossil fueled power plant will be built in
Dibis with the potential of generating up to 160
MW*4.
Kirkuk is a city which has the most oil reserves in
Iraq, so it is no wonder that KIC is taking steps
towards taking advantage of Kirkuk’s natural
resources by building a refinery. The refinery is
expected to refine 150,000 barrels per day. The
location of the refinery is unknown at this time but
as time goes by more of the project details are
expected to be released to the public.
