Resigned KIU leader:
Politicizing religion will hurt it
Erbil- Abdulrahman Sidiq, member of the Commanding
Council of the Islamic Union of Kurdistan (known in
Kurdish as Yakgrtu), left the party and said in his
resignation letter that his main reason was losing
“belief in politicizing the religion.” Sadiq has
submitted his resignation letter to the leadership
of the IUK, one of the main Islamic parties in the
Kurdistan region, on September 9. “I used to
criticize Yakgrtu, from now on I have nothing to say
about Yakgrtu.” His resignation was announced on
Monday. Following his resignation Sidiq told Rudaw
that he is not planning to return to the party. “The
reason for my resignation is that I lost my belief
in the experience of politicizing the religion,
because I think that politicizing the religion would
first hurt the religion itself and then individuals
and the society,” Sidiq in a statement. He also told
Rudaw: “It has to do with a deep ideological issue
which is politicizing the religion. This may have
been beneficial for an era, but now, at this time,
that is over.” Rudaw net

According to him, the admission council of the
higher education ministry tries to take more than
4000 students because of the flow of high school
graduates. Sidiq also said Salahaddin University
tries to bridge itself with other international

Iraq-Syria tensions may
affect Kurdistan region
Sulaimaniyah, :The tensions between Iraq and Syria
will affect the Kurdistan region as well, a KRG
official believed. Kurdistan region is part of Iraq,
and all the political issues that go on within the
country will directly affect the Kurdistan region,
Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) foreign
relations official Fallah Mustafa said, The
bilateral relations between Kurdistan region and
Syria is a commercial economical one, not a
political one, however, the tensions will leave
effects on the region, especially in the time that
the KRG is not directly involved in any of the
Baghdad-Damascus issues. “If the position of the
Kurdistan region was not to the liking of Syria,
concerning these issues, then it will endeavor to
urge the political actors in Iraq, that are favoring
Syria, against the Kurds,” Mustafa said. The
Syria-Iraq tensions will especially create problems
for Kurdistan region regarding water issue, member
of the foreign relations committee in the Iraqi
parliament, Tanya Tal’at, said. “Because Syria might
block the flow of water into Kurdistan region
then”... AKnews com

come," says the Kurdish doorbell, which is sold
since recently in the Kurdish city of Van in
southeastern Turkey. According to creator and owner
of the ‘Kurdish-speaking doorbell’, Yilmaz Uygun,
the sales are above expectations. “Next to Kurdish,
we also have Turkish, Russian, Japanese, Arabic and
Greek doorbells, but the Kurdish one is more
popular.” Uygun thinks this is because more Kurds
live in the region. “It’s interesting for Kurds to
be called to the door in their own language,” says
the owner. The door bell is multifunctional and can
be used in 15 different language. It’s especially
