Plymouth,
UK, — A Kurdish man ran home with a broken jaw
after a man attacked him for no reason in North
Hill.
The 25-year-old needed stitches to his face and his
jaw reset following the unprovoked assault.
Police, who are appealing for witnesses to come
forward, said the victim had enjoyed a night out
with friends in the nearby Cuba and Ride bars before
heading home via Armada Street.
A group of three approached him at the street's
junction with North Hill and one man challenged him,www.ekurd.net
asking 'What are you
looking at?'.
The man then set upon him, throwing a single
powerful punch.
It instantly broke the victim's jaw and knocked him
to the ground, said Dc Neil Blanchard, who is
investigating the incident.
He described it as a "nasty attack" that was
entirely unprovoked, but said it was not believed to
be race-related.
Dc Blanchard said: "This occurred near to the
victim's home – he was set upon for no reason and
nothing was taken from him.
"He ran off home through a back route as he was
worried the man would see him.
"He went to bed but woke up a few hours later in a
lot of pain and had to call an ambulance.
"He now has to go back into hospital for a second
time as a result of his injuries.
"We're hoping that somebody will remember seeing
this attack and will come forward."
The assault took place at the junction of North Hill
and Armada Street some time between 2.30am and 4am
on Friday, July 17.
The victim was in shock after the incident but
believes his attacker may have been a white male in
his mid 20s.
