Defending Committee denounces burning of Farhad
Perbal books
A group of young people who belong to the Wisha
Company which is headed by Mr. Nawshirwan Mustafa
burned the books of the poet and journalist Farhad
Perbal several days ago in the town of Kalar, as a
revenge for his vote for Kurdistani list and Mr.
Massoud Barzani. We in PUKmedia website denounce
such irresponsible actions that contradict with the
principles of democracy. The Defending Committee of
Kurdistan Region Journalists issued a statement to
condemn this action. The statement said that this
action is supported in the media of certain groups.
The Committee is concerned to this behavior which
violates the free expression of opinion. The Writer
Farhad Perbal practiced his legal right as a Kurdish
citizen in vote.
Complaints will not
influence the results of the Kurdish election: IHEC

The Independent High Electoral Commission announced
in a press conference that they will investigate 300
ballot boxes. The IHEC emphasised that this will not
effect the result of the Kurdish election. The
initial results shows that the Kurdistani list won
the majority. According to the initial results of
98% of the counting the Kurdistani list got 57.34%,
Goran: 23.75%, Service & Reform 12.8%, Islamic
Movement of Kurdistan: 1.45%, Turkmen list: 0.99%
and the communists 0.82% of the vote. For the
presidential elections Massoud Barzani got 69.57%,
Kamal Mirawdeli 25.92%, Halo Ibrahim 3.49%, Saffin
Shex Mehmud 1.4%, Hussein Germiyani 0.59%. IHEC also
reminded the opposition who complained about the
neutrality of IHEC that they can always take the
IHEC to court. The representative of the Arab league
praised the elections and the people of Kurdistan
and Iraq and emphasised the unity of the Iraqi
nation.
Othman: Kurdistan alliance
upholds implementation of Article 140
The Lawmaker from the Kurdistan Alliance Bloc in the
Iraqi Parliament Mahmoud Othman exclusively told
PUKmedia correspondent that his bloc is committed to
the implementation of Article 140 to solve the issue
of the disputed areas. Othman said that Article 140
is constitutional and still in force but there are
obstacles which hinder its implementation.
Armenian elected to

An Armenian was elected to the parliament of
Kurdistan. Aram Shahin Bakoyan, a member of
Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) led by Massoud
Barzani, will have a mandate in the 111-seat
parliament. Chairman of the central national
administration of Iraq, Paruyr Hakopian said all
Armenian candidates are Kurdish-speaking. “Aram
Shahin is a native of Artsruk. He used to fight in
Barzani’s guerilla units,” he said, kurdistan.ru
reports.

Kurdistan citizens voiced diverged points of views
over the final results of Kurdish Presidential and
Parliamentary elections in which Kurdistan
Democratic Party led by leader Massoud Barzani and
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan headed by Iraqi
President Jalal Talabani rallied majority of votes.
Some Kurds expected the outcome: “We expected these
results since there was a strong opposition.
Regardless of fraud claims, distribution of seats
was fair”. Others were surprised by the results
expecting Kurdish parties to rally more votes in
elections. “Results were not anticipated. We
expected the Kurdish alliance to win more seats but
there are different views among Kurds and citizens
are free to choose the list which represents them”,
they said. Opposition in the region marked
unexpected results, a number of observers claimed
noting that this is an indicator to the democracy of
elections and to the emergence of new powers on the
Kurdish scene.
Kurdistan has more than
1000 archeological sites: AK
More than 1000 archeological sites in Kurdistan
Region have not been yet a source of income,
according to an archeologist. Efficient experts are
needed to study those sites so that the KRG could
renew them and make them a strong economic income,
archeologist Aram Muhammad said.
He thought Iraqi Kurdistan Region has a rich
civilization. Caves like Shanadar, Hazarmerd and
Jarmo prove that fact.
