The website of the Kurdish Change list (Gorran) reported that Colonel Dindar Yusif Kalash, a officer in the Kurdish Peshmerga forces, has been arrested and imprisoned by the KDP for supporting the Goran list. The news cannot be confirmed by independent sources. So far pro-KDP media didn’t report anything about it.

The Change "Goran" List, was formed by PUK’s former second in command, Nawshirwan Mustafa. Mustafa, a former deputy leader and co-founder of PUK plans to head a political group of independents called "Change" in the region's upcoming parliamentary elections. He left Patriotic Union of Kurdistan party (PUK) in December 2006,

In 2005 the Islamist IUK was also targeted by KDP supporters and their offices were burned down after they run separate from the Kurdistani list. Some fear that during the upcoming Kurdish elections.

The IHEC has set July 25 as the date for parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan region. The elections will coincide with the presidential polls.

A total of 507 candidates from several political blocs and five alliances are competing for 111 seats in the upcoming parliamentary polls.

Parliamentary polls in the region were scheduled to be held on May 19, but were postponed due to the Parliament’s endorsement of the amended law on elections.
