SULAIMANIYAH, Kurdistan region 'Iraq', —
Nawshirwan Mustafa, head of the Change List, told
the London-based Arabic newspaper Azzaman that
President of Kurdistan Region should be elected by
the parliament rather than through direct elections.
The Kurdistan Parliament earlier this year decided
to elect the president through direct voting, after
the current president of Kurdistan,www.ekurd.net
Massoud Barzani
announced that he will not nominate himself if the
process is not held by direct election.
Regarding his list’s election program, Mustafa said;
“Our political program stresses on the point that
the Kurdistan parliamentary system is parallel to
the federalist and parliamentary system of Iraq.” |
