Iranian artillery resumes
bombing Kurdistan region border areas
The Iranian artillery on Saturday, February 14, 2009
heavily bombed the Kurdistan region border areas of
Lolan, Berkma, Snin, Khnera and Dalstan of the
Sidakan sub-district of Soran district, Erbil
province, a well-informed source told PUKmedia
correspondent.
“The casualties of the bombing are unknown yet,” the
source added.
Each family of martyrs of
Halabja Chemical bombardment to receive 5.000.000 ID
Under the decree issued by Deputy Premier of the
Kurdistan Regional Government Omer Fatah, each
family of the martyrs of Halabja Chemical
bombardment will receive 5.000.000 ID of loans for
completing their houses.
Recently, the Kurdistan Regional Government decided
to build 500 houses for those families and it
supplied 21.250.000 ID and 50 tons of cement for
each one of them.
Kurdistan Region Presidency
to free another group of prisoners
Following the release of several prisoners who were
found not guilty in the Kurdistan Region’s prisons,
Kurdistan Region Presidency will free another group
of prisoners in cooperation with the concerned
sides, Head of Kurdistan Region Presidency’s Divan
Fuad Hessen told PUKmedia.
Fuad Hessen did not mention the number of prisoners
who are expected to be freed, and said, “It takes
much time to complete necessary procedures in this
regard.”
Regarding this, Kurdistan Region Presidency along
with Kurdistan Regional Government and a number of
concerned ministries formed a committee tasked with
examining the prisoners’ issue.
German FM to visit
Kurdistan region
In an exclusive statement to Kurdistan Nwe
newspaper, the head of foreign relations office of
KRG Falah Mustafa said “the German foreign minister
will visit Kurdistan region soon. The minister
didn’t announce the date of his visit.”
He added “France is expected to open an office for
its embassy in Kurdistan region. At his meeting with
Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, the French President
Nicolas Sarkozy emphasized that France intends to
open this consulate in Kurdistan region.
