number of reports about the circumstances in which
Pier Rustum was detained.
According to Kurdish Human Rights Committee al-Rased
through their contacts in Aleppo, Political Security
Forces arrested the writer Pier Rustum on 5 November
2009 and took him to an unknown destination. There
was no arrest warrant, and so the arrest was
illegal. He is thought to be currently in the
custody of the security services in Syria but his
precise location is as yet unknown as his family has
not been allowed to see him. He came from Kurdistan
through Lebanon,www.ekurd.netand
arrived home in Syria on 26 October where he was
arrested on 5 November 2009. It is believed that the
arrest was due to his political background of
activity that includes publishing articles on the
internet.
