Erbil: Leaders of Goran movement met with Iraqi
Kurdistan President Massoud Barzani and talked about
issues such as dismissing people from government
jobs by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan on
suspicion of voting to Goran during the July 25th
elections, Mam Rostam, a leader of the movement told
Rudaw. Mam Rostam said that the delegation met with
Barzani on Friday December 24. The delegation
promised to solve the issue upcoming new year.
“(Goran) has become reality (of the political
process), we have 25 seats in the parliament,” said
Mam Rostam. “We told Barzani that people are being
fired from their jobs and transferred (on suspicions
of voting to Goran in the parliamentary elections),”
he said adding that the president promised that he
will not let anyone to be fired because of

35,000 supervisors to watch
elections in Kurdistan – IHEC
Erbil: The Independent High Electoral Commission
will appoint 35,000 supervisors to watch electoral
centers in Kurdistan region during the coming
parliamentary elections, according to head of IHEC
in Kurdistan. “The IHEC sent 100,000 names of
teachers, legal experts and universities’ graduates
to appoint them as supervisors for the coming
parliamentary elections,” Ali Qader told Aswat
al-Iraq news agency. “A total of 35,000 supervisors
will be chosen among the sent names,” he explained.
The parliamentary elections will be held next March
7.
Kurdistan embraces more
than 180 media outlets
Erbil: A source form Kurdistan Regional Government-
Culture Ministry announced that more than 179 radio
stations and 15 satellite channels are chartered by
the Ministry as of yet. The source also alerts that
a panel to filter the channels is formed. "52 radio
stations are chartered in Erbil and its outskirts,
22 in Sulaimaniyah, and 26 in Duhok totaling 100
radio stations in the three provinces of Kurdistan,"
the general press director form Culture Ministry,
Halgord Abdulwahhab, told AK News). "61 TV
satiations in Erbil, 7 in Duhok, and 12 in
Sulaimaniyah are chartered so far, totaling 80 TV
stations. 15 satellite channels are also chartered
by Culture Ministry. Almost 20 stations are acting
without being licensed," Abdulawahhab declared. "At
the time we were in charge of giving licenses to the
magazines and newspapers their total number had
exceeded 700. Even if 200 of them is remained now,
it is too much if compared to the Kurdish population

KRG to construct playing
field in Erbil
Erbil: The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has
agreed to finance a project to establish a playing
field in Arbil City at $810,000 U.S. dollars. “The
Finance Ministry in the KRG has allocated $810,000
U.S. dollars for the establishment of a third
playing field for the Arbil Club…,” the secretary of
the administrative board of the Erbil Sporting Club,
Mahmoud Aziz, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

traditional clothes exhibition in Erbil awaits 2010
50 kinds of man and woman wear clothes are collected
at the Kurdish Heritage Directorate- Clothes
Department to be exhibited. "Despite opening a
number of exhibitions to exhibit clothes so far, we
also intend to stage a huge exhibition for clothes
in Erbil for 2010," Kurdish Heritage Directorate-
the Director of Clothes Department, Zhiyan Dzayi,
said. "In assistance with the Korean Zayton Division
we opened a clothes exhibition in 2005, but for 2010
we will broaden the scope as the exhibition will be
special for Kurdish clothes," in an interview Dzayi
