Fraction asks to strip
parliamentary immunity from a Change bloc MP
During Kurdistan Region Parliament’s Wednesday
session on October 28, the Kurdistani Fraction
presented the Presidency of Parliament a request to
strip MP Abdulla Mala Ali from Change bloc of his
immunity so that he has given a baseless charge to
one of the sixth KRG cabinet ministers, Aso Karim,
Spokesman of the Kurdistani Fraction in an exclusive
statement told PUKmedia.
Iraqi Army's 12th Division
asks Peshmerga forces to evacuate Daquq area
Last night on October 27/28, the Iraqi Army's 12th
Division in Daquq district its surrounding villages
called on the Peshmerga forces to quickly evacuate
their areas, Dr. Amir Khwakaram Chief of the council
of Daquq district in an exclusive statement told
PUKmedia regarding this.
Turkish foreign minister to
visit Kurdistan Region on Friday
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and his
accompanied delegation will pay an official visit to
Iraqi Kurdistan Region, which is the first visit of
a Turkish minister to the region, on Friday October
30, 2009. Davutoglu's visit will include talks with
Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani to
discuss the issue of PKK and the returning process
of some PKK cadres and leaders -which are estimated
of 1500 cadres and based in Kurdistan Region- to
Turkey, including the brother of Abdullah Ocalan
Othman Ocalan, Nidham el-Din Tash and Khidr Sari
Kaya. They will also discuss the issue of opening a
Turkish Consulate in Erbil City. Davutoglu will
highlight Ankara's aims of the “Democratic Opening
Plan" to end the conflict with the PKK elements.
Sulaimaniyah youth top
readership chart, study says
Young people in Sulaimaniyah top the chart of
readerships in Kurdistan and Iraq, according to a
study conducted by the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
According to the results of the study, only 21.2
percent of youth frequently read in Iraq and
Kurdistan. The study found that in Sulaimaniyah 52.1
percent of the young people surveyed were regular
readers while Erbil-Hawler readers came in the
second stage, then Duhok with 18.7percent in the
third stage, but Diala youths read very little and
they got 9.1 percent. The survey was conducted in 20
days in all Iraqi provinces and 19,600 people
between the ages of 10-30 years participated in it.

Kurdistan Region Exporters
and Importers Union signs two memos in Ukraine
In the framework of its trade journey to the
Republic of Ukraine, the delegation of Union of
Kurdistan Region Importers and Exporters has signed
some memoranda of understanding in addition to
holding several meetings with the Ukrainian
officials. The Kurdistan Region Exporters and
Importers Union held separate meetings with each of
the Ukrainian Zaporojie region Chamber of Commerce
and Industry in which highlighting the bilateral
economic ties and the developments made in this
regard.
Senior delegation of Czech
to visit Kurdistan Region
Headed by Vladimir Ristovski Minister of Industry, a
senior delegation of Czech including deputy minister
of industry, the Czech Ambassador to Baghdad, a
number of businessmen and companies is expected to
arrive in Kurdistan Region on Wednesday October 28
to meet the region’s top officials. A source from
the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources stated that
this visit aims to closely examine the condition of
Kurdistan Region and ways of working the Czech firms
for further participating in the region’s economic
infrastructure, the industrial field in particular.
Iranian woman invests in
Kurdistan's flowers
Erbil: An Iranian businesswoman will invest in the
establishment of a project focused on natural
flowers, in Kurdistan Region capital, Erbil, says an
official at the Kurdistan Board of Investment (KIB).
“Mrs. Fariba, owner of Orchid Company, will
establish the natural flowers’ plantation centre in
Erbil, costing around US$ 1.5 million,” reveals
Kamaran Mufti, the KIB director general of
promotion, assessment and licensing projects. The
project, the first of its kind in Iraq’s Kurdistan
Region, will grow many kinds of natural flowers for
the local market and for possible export, tells
Mufti said. The vital project, licensed on October
28, will be implemented within one year, according
