Thousands of Iraqi
displacements vote in Erbil
The election centers in Erbil that were inaugurated
by the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission,
witnessed an enthusiastic turnout by thousands of
the other Iraqi provinces citizens.
The citizens expressed their gratitude to the
authorities in Erbil for securing the appropriate
circumstance to vote freely.
Its worth mentioning that a number of the citizens
in the areas of Makhmour came to vote in Erbil’s
voting centers but they were prevented under the
pretext that their names were not enrolled in the
electing lists.
Regarding that issue, Head of Kurdistan Presidency
Divan Fuad Husain, told the reporters at an electing
centre that the Kurdistan Alliance Bloc will
complain at the Independent High Electoral
Commission about depriving the citizens from voting
in spite of possessing the required papers.
He said that the Kurdistan Presidency spears no
efforts in solving this problem, because depriving
all those masses from their right of voting means
that Kurdistani Alliance Bloc will lose their
voices.
Fuad Husain: More than
70.000 Kurdish voters deprived right of voting
Head of Kurdistan Presidency Divan Dr. Fuad Husain,
in a press statements on Saturday said that more
than 70.000 citizens in the disputed areas of
Kurdistan Region especially in Makhmour and Khanaqin
districts deprived their right of voting because
they were not on the voting lists.
“It’s suspected that the reason behind those
citizens’ names not being enrolled is related to
technical reasons. We in Kurdistan Alliance Bloc
will formally complain against the High Electoral
Commission”, he added.
Husain also said the names of 60.000 voters in
Makhmour district were not found in the voting lists
in spite of transferring their ration cards to their
areas according to Article 140 of the Iraqi
permanent constitution.
He added that 16.000 citizens deprived their right
to vote in spite of their return to their areas
since several years. He called the Electoral
Commission to solve this issue as soon as possible.
Only 34 persons allowed to
vote in Halabja
Only 34 persons in Halabja are allowed to vote in
the ongoing provincial election, despite the
presence of a larger number of displaced people in
the suburb, the director of provincial election
scenter in Halabja said on Saturday.
“There are a large number of displaced people in
Halabcha, 80 km southeastern Sulaimaniyah, but only
34 persons in the district are allowed to vote,”
Lateef Othman told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“This issue occurred as voters’ names were not
registered with the Independent High Electoral
Commission (IHEC),” he said.
“Unregistered voters in Halabja can vote at the
special polling center in Sulaimaniyah city (364 km
northeast Baghdad),” he added.
