Kurdistan Parliament to Hold an Extraordinary
Session
Adnan Mufti, speaker of Kurdistan Parliament called
the Members of the Parliament to attend the
extraordinary session that will be held Wednesday at
12:00pm. The session will discuss the subject of
issuing the law of Provinces’ Councils Elections in
Iraq, which was issued yesterday by the Iraqi
Parliament.
Iraqi Deputy PM: Voting to Provincial Elections
Law is Unacceptable
Iraqi deputy prime minister, Dr Barham Saleh, said
that voting to the provincial elections law by the
Iraqi lawmakers is unconstitutional and
unacceptable.
“If this issue remains unsolved, Iraqi president Mam
Jalal will be bound to veto it,” Barham Saleh said.
“Despite a signed agreement between Kurdistan
Alliance Bloc and other blocs to reach a compromise,
their stance to vote to the bill today made their
credibility suspicious.”
“Kurdistan Alliance Bloc (KAB) strongly objected to
this unconstitutional drive and it takes all
constitutional measures to respond it. The real
response is the insistence of KAB on implementing
the content of article 140 as a least constitutional
commitment of Iraqi government to the people of
Kurdistan,” Barham Saleh added.
Passing Election Law for Provincial Councils is
Constitutional Violation: Kurdistan Presidency
Concerning the Iraqi Parliament Passing on the
Election Law for the Provincial Councils, the
Spokesperson of Kurdistan Presidency said that the
Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament violated, Wednesday
the constitution and broke the internal system of
the Parliament when he managed the voting process in
a secret way aiming to overthrow the Iraqi
constitution.
He also said: "At the time that Kurdistan Presidency
condemns this unordinary behavior by the Speaker of
the Iraqi Parliament and those who joined him,
Kurdistan region doesn’t commit with the outcome of
this illegal voting."
“We express our deep concern towards this behavior
that may lead us to revise our stance and alliances
because our People become tired of this indirect
policy which contradicts the constitution and the
convenient basis of the political process”, he
added.
“We call upon the Parliament and his Excellency the
Republic President and the Presidency Council to
face these suspicious plans that serve non-Iraq
agendas and aim to undermine the National Democratic
Process. The vote on the law of the Provincial
Councils is an attempt to break down the whole
political process. We are confident that
nationalists and the devoted in the political blocs
are aware of these irresponsible behaviors. We urge
all People of Kurdistan region to stand in one raw
in order to foil this hazardous conspiracy”, he
said.
