Iraqi Alsumaria Arabic TV to air Kurdish
news bulletins

Kurdistan’s speaker of Parliament Adnan Mufti
received on May 6, 2008, Alsumaria CEO Chafic Tabet
and Alsumaria Manager in Hewler Dr. Ali.
Attended by media advisor Tarek Sarmami, the meeting
related the media status and its offshoots on
current developments in Iraqi society in addition to
Alsumaria achievements in Kurdistan.
Alsumaria delegation expressed content towards the
democratic experience in Kurdistan and progress
attained so far. They thanked as well Kurdistan
officials for their support to Alsumaria.
The delegation revealed that Alsumaria TV will
broadcast soon from Hewler news bulletins in the
Kurdish language out of Alsumaria esteem to
Kurdistan and respect to its experience in Iraq and
the region as well as in reverence to fraternal
coexistence therein between all sects and
components. Alsumaria delegation stressed the TV’s
willingness to follow up the democratic and federal
application in Kurdistan. |

Kurdistan’s speaker of
Parliament Adnan Mufti emphasized the importance of
media in general and Satellite TV networks in
particular in influencing the public opinion and
enhancing democracy. Al Mufti thanked Alsumaria for
its attention to Kurdistan region, praising the TV’s
initiative to broadcast news bulletins in the
Kurdish language, and wishing Alsumaria further
success and prosperity.
In another context, CEO Chafic Tabet announced that
Alsumaria is working currently on the implementation
of DVBH project which brings TV broadcast to mobile
phones, currently applied in Hawlir, thus Kurdistan
will be the first region in the Middle East to enjoy
such a service.
