Kurdish Intellectuals Express Concerns over
“Ta’mim” Term
The Kurdish intellectuals in Kirkuk expressed their
concerns over using the term “Ta’mim” instead of
“Kirkuk” by some Iraqi official institutions.
The name “Kirkuk province” was changed to
“At-Ta’mim” by the Iraqi ousted regime, later it was
revised to its origin which is “Kirkuk” by the
Kirkuk Provincial Council as the central government
approved it. “Unfortunately, some Iraqi official
institutions still articulate the name “Ta’mim”
instead of Kirkuk. This makes us (as people of
Kirkuk) extremely concerned because the name was
officially revised to its origin which is Kirkuk,”
Kurdish journalist, Asaad Jabari said. As he told
PUKmedia, during a meeting of the Iraqi provincial
councils in Baghdad, the board said “representatives
of Ta’mim province” which provoked the
representatives of the Kirkuk Council, and then they
changed it to Kirkuk by their own amidst the
meeting.
