137 Tourist Projects to be Implemented within Sulaimaniyah Province

137 tourist projects are expected to be implemented this year within Sulaimaniyah province including its sub districts and districts, the General Director of Sulaimani Tourism Directorate, Mihabad Sheik Latif, said.
The directorate has proposed 27 other tourist projects for the next year while they have been waiting for completing Sulaimani Master Plan to specify the other tourist destinations and renovate the existing tourist places.

Yawir: Kurdistan Region’s Guard Forces are within Iraqi Defense System

Major General Jabbar Yawir, the Spokesperson of Kurdistan Region Guard Forces stated exclusively to PUKmedia website that a high delegation from the KRG will visit Baghdad. The delegation and the Federal Government will discuss the unresolved issues like oil contracts, Peshmerga Forces, Article 140 and the budget of the Region’s Guard Forces which is included in the Iraqi Defense System. “Both Peshmerga Ministries in the Region will be unified soon. We are part of the Federal Iraq. We will combat terror in collaboration with the Iraqi Forces and the Multi-National Forces”, Yawir added.

Sulaimaniyah…New Round of Asaysh (Security) Forces Graduated

The graduation ceremonies of the second round (Martyr Anwar Rahman Round) held Tuesday on the training square of Sulaimaniyah Police Academy. It included more than 131 students of Asaysh (Security) Forces. Verses of the Holy Quran were cited at the beginning of the ceremonies, then the students demonstrated in coordinated rows the art of modern fighting and the use of the cold steel in addition to the means of addressing the risks that the Asaysh man may face in his work. Brigadier Hassan Nuri, the Head of Sulaimaniyah Asaysh Directorate said in a press statement that the graduated students trained on the modern art of fighting, the science of intelligence and security, ways of applying and imposing the law and preserving human rights. “Most of the training cadres are from the Kurdish Asaysh. These forces will service the country and preserve the safety and the citizen’s properties”, Brigadier Nuri added.

Sulaimaniyah Branch of Aindey Gesh Organization Inaugurated

Governor of Sulaimaniyah, Dana Ahmed Majid,Tuesday inaugurated the Sulaimaniyah branch of Aindey Gesh (Bright Future) Organization which offers micro- loans to civilians. “We inaugurated the Erbil branch of our organization in December 2007.We offered 188 loans to civilians and 122 people benefited from them and repaid the loans”, Hogr Shali, head of the organization said. “Aindey Gesh is an independent Kurdistani organization. The Kurdistan Regional Government has allocated $5million to our organization. The organization conducts its works through the solidarity of the CHF organization which allocated $2million to the budget of the organization”, he added. Aindey Gesh Organization offers micro-credit funds to civilians from$100 to $10000 to one year and at %12 interest rate.

KRG to Build More than 100 Dams to Face Draught in Kurdistan Region

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has planned to build more than 100 dams to face the draught in the region, The KRG Minister for Water Resources, Tahsin Qadir, said on Monday. “Some of the propjets are strategic and are related to the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources. The strategic projects will be implemented on the budget of the Iraqi federal government. Some other projects are regional which will be implemented by the KRG in solidarity with the donor countries, foreign organizations and local and foreign investors”, Qadir said.

KRG PM Visits Kurdistan Region’s Investment Institution

Nechirvan Barzani, the KRG Prime Minister paid a visit to the Investment Institution of Kurdistan Region. He was received by Herish Moharam Amen, the Head of the Investment Institution and the Directors Generals there. They discussed various ways of activating the role of the Institution. Barzani called the employees to work transparently in order to facilitate the investors work and serve the interests of Kurdistan Region. He also asked the Institution to participate in the International Seminars and Conferences to get more information and maintain contact with other global institutions.Barzani also said that no one has the right to interfere with the Institution’s business. The KRG put the institution’s development as a top Priority.

Al-Mufti Calls to Submit the Budget of Kurdistan Region to the Parliament

Adnan Mufti, Kurdistan Parliament speaker held a meeting yesterday with the head and members of the Financial and Economy committee in the Parliament. In the beginning of the meeting, Diler Haqi Shawis presented the details of the budget report of Kurdistan for the year 2008, which included 17 points that represents remarks and suggestions about the budget. On his part, Mufti appreciated the committee efforts in making this report, and introduced important ideas on the report. He also emphasized the necessity of submitting the budget for the ministries that are still disintegrated and the Region’s budget in a certain time. He called the committee members to work hard to introduce the budget during this week.

Sulaimaniyah Municipality to Implement Recycling Project

Sulaimaniyah municipality plans to deal with the rubbish of the city through recycling, utilizing waste to make aluminium, nylon and other goods. “A delegation from the Sulaimaniyah municipality will visit Erbil in the coming days to discuss the project of recycling in Sulaimaniyah with a foreign company” Omar Mahwi, mayor of Sulaimaniyah said.
