Iraqi PM arrives in Kurdistan because of
sandstorm in Baghdad

Erbil-Hewler, Kurdistan region 'Iraq, -- Iraqi
Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki arrived in Erbil, the
Iraqi Kurdistan's capital, on Friday coming from
Belgium’s capital Brussels.
The premier’s plane could not land in the Baghdad
International Airport because of the fierce
sandstorms that swept across Baghdad.
“Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki arrived on Friday in
Erbil with his delegation which accompanied him
during his recent visit to Brussels,” Ali al-Dabagh,www.ekurd.net
official spokesman for
the Iraqi government, told VOI.
Prime minister paid a visit to Brussels at the
invitation of the European Commission chief to visit
the European Union (EU) institutions and the North
Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). |

The premier called on the NATO countries to increase
their role in Iraq through rehabilitating Iraq’s
security forces and supporting reconstruction
projects to achieve economic developments.
Al-Maliki headed for Brussels leading a delegation
of political, security and oil officials for talks
with the EU president and members to strengthen
political, military and economic relations.
