Kurdistan PM Nechirvan Barzani arrives in
Baghdad

Erbil-Hewler, Kurdistan region 'Iraq, --
Kurdistan Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani arrived
in Iraq's capital, Baghdad on Friday to meet his
Iraqi counterpart Nouri al-Maliki, said a media
source at the Kurdistan's government.
The source explained that Barzani and al-Maliki will
discuss pending issues, such as oil and gas law, and
the oil contracts signed by the Kurdistan regional
government with a number of foreign companies
without the federal government's approval.
"Accompanied with a big delegation, Nechirvan
Barzani arrived in Baghdad on Friday on a
several-day visit to discuss with Nouri al-Maliki
and the Iraqi officials the pending constitutional
problems between the Kurdistan region and the
federal government," Mohammed Khoshnaf, the press
secretary of Nechirvan Barzani told VOI. |

He added "Among the most important issues that will
be discussed are oil and gas law and the oil
contracts signed by the Kurdistan regional
government with foreign companies,www.ekurd.net
in addition to the
region's budget, and the Peshmergas' (official armed
Kurdish forces that operate within the Kurdistan
region's territories) budget."
Iraqi central government refused to approve the oil
contracts signed by the Kurdistan regional
government with foreign companies, to invest in the
oil sector within the Kurdistan regional
territories.
Baghdad central government also refused to pay the
salaries of more than 190 thousand Peshmerga
fighters through the budget of the federal Ministry
of Defense (MOD).
