UK: Kurdish man charged over fatal
stabbing

UK, -- A 23-year-old Kurdish man has been
charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of
an Iraqi man in Hull.
Goran Ali Hahmed is due to appear before Hull
Magistrates' Court later over the death of Kawan
Ashraf Sharif.
Humberside Police said the 24-year-old died of a
stab wound to the neck after an incident in Bathurst
Street late on Friday night.
Mr Sharif, who lived in Sandhurst Grove, Leeds,
moved from Iraq to England six years ago, police
said. |

Kawan Ashraf Sharif of
Sandhurst Grove, Leeds died after being taken to
Hull Royal infirmary just after midnight on Saturday
suffering from wound to his neck.
A post mortem was carried out on Saturday and
concluded Mr Sharif died as a result of a single
stab wound to his neck.
Details released by police after the incident stated
the victim was living in Hull,www.ekurd.net
however enquiries now
have revealed he had also been living at an address
in Leeds and during the night he died he had been
visiting a friend in the City
Mr Sharif’s family live in Iraqi Kurdistan and he
leaves behind a mother, a father, three brothers and
two sisters.
He moved from Iraq to England six years ago.
A relative living local to the area has released the
following statement and asks that the media leave
them to come to terms with their loss.
“Kawan was a funny man, a good person and friend.
We’ve been close for many years, he was always so
happy and I’m going to really miss him.”
Relatives are currently being supported by specially
trained Family Liaison Officers and contact has been
made with those in Iraq.
A photograph of the victim has also been released by
the family for the media to use.
A man aged 23-years remains in police custody at
this time after being arrested on suspicion of
murder.
