Kurdistan Region National Assembly Passes
Agricultural Land Law
The Speaker of the Kurdistan Region National
Assembly, Adnan Mufti, Monday chaired a normal
session of the parliament. During the session the
law of organizing the rights of using agricultural
lands was ratified following intensive discussions
by the lawmakers.
The KRG Minister for Agriculture, Abdul-Aziz Tayeb,
attended the session.
Kurdish Delegation Discuss Holding Conference
inside European Parliament on Kurdish Genocide
A Kurdish delegation in cooperation of the Kurdish
Institute in Paris visited the European Parliament
on March 29th in Brussels, capital of Belgium, to
further familiarize the Kurdish genocide
internationally. The delegation was received by a
lawmaker of the European parliament .They discussed
the inauguration of a phototropic exhibition inside
the European parliament about the genocide against
the Kurds for one week and holding a conference for
the same purpose soon. On March 30th, a conference
on the Kurdish genocide and Anfal was held by Dr.
Yasin Karim and Ali Dolamary in the French city of
Moleson. The same day a photographic exhibition on
the Kurdish mass graves by the Kurdish artist Rahel
Rashid was opened in France attended by many Kurds
and people of France.
Abdel Mahdi Arrives at Sulaimaniyah International
Airport
The Iraqi Vice President, Dr. Adel Abdel Mahdi and
the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshiyar Zebari arrived
today at Sulaimani International Airport after their
participation in the Arab Summit in Damascus. The
Deputy KRG PM, Mr. Omar Fatah and PUK Politburo
members were at their reception.
Sweden Praises Kurdistan Regional Government to
Challenge Violence against Women
On march 27th, the Swedish government published its
annual report on the conditions of human rights in
Iraq.
Despite presenting the violations of human rights in
Iraq, the report praised the Kurdistan region’s
efforts to challenge the violence against women.
“The prime minister of Kurdistan regional
government, Nechirvan Barzani, has an obvious stance
to the violence against women, particularly to the
honor-based killing,” the report said.
The prime minister Barzani established a special
commission to monitor the violence against women in
Kurdistan region.
PUK and KDP Emphasize Supporting Iraqi Government
in Imposing Law
Following a joint meeting between the General
Secretary of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK),
Jalal Talabani, and the President of the Kurdistan
Region and Head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP),
Massoud Barzani, on Friday, they held a joint press
conference in Dukan Resort in which they only
discussed the current violence in Basra and other
Iraqi cities.
It is expected that the meetings of both PUK and KDP
politburos to start Saturday.
“We discussed the current condition in Iraq and we
are concerned about the new conditions. Our views
with the Iraqi President are the same” Barzani said.
Talabani announced the formal stance of PUK and KDP,
saying that it focuses on two points. First both
parties emphasize supporting the Iraqi government in
imposing law and Iraq’s sovereignty .Second, both
parties call for holding an urgent meeting of the
basic parties in the Iraqi parliament to resolve all
the suspended issues in Iraq and that the Kurdistan
region declares its readiness to host the meeting.
