Kurdish Academic to Unify Kurdish Alphabets
Announced
The establishment of Kurdish Academic Foundation was
announced in a press conference in Erbil on
Wednesday.
“The first job of the foundation is to review the
Kurdish scientific terms and settle them in
cooperation with ministry of education to unify the
Kurdish alphabets,” the head of the foundation,
Shafiq Qazaz, said. The foundation tries to specify
the Kurdish alphabets and standardize them in all
institutions while it is expected to print some
books and dictionaries, and open a library within
two weeks, as Qazaz said. The foundation has been
initiated since July 2007, and it consists of
several committees including terminology and
alphabet committees.
People No Longer Need Permission to Protest
Lawmaker Says
The Kurdistan Region Parliament is expected to
discuss the proposed bill to regulate holding
protest and public rally.
“We did several changes to the bill. We believe
protest is a civil activity, therefore it does not
require in advance permission from the government.
It only requires the organizers of the expected
protests and rallies to inform the authorities 48
hours prior to the protests. According to the Iraqi
constitution though, civilians are entitled to hold
rally and protest and express their opinions,” head
of the relations and cultural affairs in Kurdistan
Region Parliament, Arez Aziz told PUKmedia.
According to the status of the bill, permission
should be given by the ministry of interior to hold
a rally or protest while Arez Aziz said it only
requires the governors or mayors to be informed in
advance to take suitable measures.“Several other
changes were made to the bill, which are in interest
of broadening public democratic atmosphere in the
region,” Arez added.
Hamoon Organization for Youths Activities
Integrated with Kurdistan Youth Freedom Organization
The Hamoon Organization for Youths Activities,
Thursday officially integrated with the Kurdistan
Youth Freedom Organization in a ceremony attended by
members of the PUK Democratic Organizations Bureau,
and members of both Organizations secretariats.
Secretary General of the Kurdistan Youth Freedom
Organization, Hiwa Hamid, and the former head of the
Hamoon Organization for Youths Activities, Saiwan
Jalil, indicated the importance of the youths
struggle to achieve their aims. They also indicated
that this unification will further strengthen the
organization. During a joint statement both the
organizations declared “We in the Hamoon
Organization for Youths Activities after intensive
discussions with the Kurdistan Youth Freedom
Organization decided to maintain our activities
inside the Kurdistan Youth Freedom Organization to
better serve the youths. Kurdistan Youth Freedom
Organization is a Kurdish organization which aims to
protect and achieve the rights of youths in
Kurdistan region .it was founded in 1999.
Kurdistan Alliance Bloc Calls for Peaceful
Options to Deal with Violence in Iraq
The Kurdistan Alliance Bloc in the Iraqi parliament
issued a statement about the recent clashes between
the Iraqi Army and the militants of Mahdi Army
calling for political solutions and dialogue for
dealing with the violence. “While the Kurdistan
Alliance Bloc reiterates its commitment to the
implementation of the Iraqi constitution, combating
terrorism, and implementing law at the same time it
emphasizes peaceful choices and dialogue to deal
with the issues”, a press release by the Kurdistan
Alliance Bloc said.
KRG Ministry of Culture Donates Books to Kirkuk
Public Library
Kirkuk Public Library on Wednesday received a large
amount of books and recent publications which were
donated by the KRG Ministry of Culture. Director of
the Public Library in Kirkuk appreciated the KRG for
its continuous support to the library. The books are
estimated to be worth 60 million ID. Director of
Sulaimaniyah public library, Ary Baban, clarified
that supporting Kirkuk Public Library is a key duty
of the KRG Ministry of Culture. Kirkuk Public
Library was founded in the 1930’s.
