Iranian Artillery Shells Pashdar District

Iranian artillery shelled again the villages of Razqa, Sabikala and Shinawa in Pashdar District, to the northeast of Sulaimaniyah Province.
The bombardment resulted no casualties, but led to a huge material damages for the people houses. The bombardment led the people of these villages to leave their houses into safer places. It’s worth mentioning that the Iranian artillery shells the border villages of Kurdistan Region under the pretext of chasing (PJAK) elements in these areas.

Joint UN and Red Cross Team Visit Bombarded Areas of Kurdistan Region

Following the latest Iranian bombardments against the Kurdistan region border areas, on Monday a joint team from the UN, the Red Cross and the KRG officials visited those areas to evaluate the impacts of the bombardments.

The Office of the KRG Coordinator to the UN, issued statement saying that hundreds of families were displaced and 6 villages have been evacuated.
The delegation saw conditions of several displaced families and the UNHCR distributed aides among them including tents, stoves and other necessities. On his part, the KRG Coordinator to the UN, Dindar Zebari said “While we are concerned about the bombardment and wish the Iraqi federal government do its best to stop the bombardments as soon as possible, we call on the UN agencies and the humanitarian organizations to continue on their aides to the displaced people of the bombarded areas.

Earthquake Hits Penjwin District

On Tuesday at 11:23am, an earthquake of 3.1 degree on Richter scale hit Penjwin border District, 96km to the northeast of Sulaimaniyah. It’s worth mentioning that, a series of 3.2 earthquakes hit Penjwin Monday.

KRG Delegation Visits Kirkuk

A KRG delegation headed by the KRG Minister for Extra-Regional Affairs, Mohammed Ihsan, visited Kirkuk Tuesday to discuss security and political developments in the city.
They were received by Kirkuk’s Governor, Abdul Rahman Mustafa, who indicated the security developments and stability in the city is due to the strict measures and security plans. He also indicated the positive consequences of stability in Kirkuk on political situation pointing out the importance of the mutual agreement signed between the Kirkuk Fraternity List and the Republicans Gathering in Kirkuk’s Provincial Council.
Paving the way to Kirkuk’s reconstruction and the role that KRG can play in supporting the province’s administration particularly in Baghdad was another topic of the discussion.
Kirkuk’s Governor appreciated the key role of KRG in supporting the reconstruction of the province.

Budget Allocated to Judicial Power in Kurdistan Region Attorney Says

For the first time ever, a proposed budget to the judicial power submitted to the Kurdistan Region Parliament for discussion and consequently to be ratified, as head of the legal committee in the parliament, Shirwan Haidari, said.
One of the key paragraphs of the judicial power law numbered 23 in 2007, which was ratified by the parliament, says the judicial power should have a specific budget as the government and parliament have. As Haidari said, the budget helps the judicial power to have an effective and considerable role and it serves its independency in Kurdistan region.

Iyad Alawi: Kurds are Peaceful and Friendly People

During an interview with al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper, Dr. Iyad Alawi, Former PM and head of Iraqi Faction in the Iraqi Parliament said that the Kurdish People are peaceful and friendly, they are an indivisible part from the Iraqi Nation.

Concerning his relation with Kurdish Leadership, Alawi said:”The Kurds played an important role through the Kurdish Revolution, during the leadership of Mala Mustafa Barzani and the leaders who came after him. They hosted the political powers and took the risk of that; the Kurds are peaceful and friendly and they embraced us, we look to the Kurds as an undivided part of the Iraqi Nation.” “To me, Ahmadinejad is a message to the whole area, American and the world and is related to the Iraqi interior situation, it says to the whole world and America in particular: We are the powerful side, come and discuss the matters with Us”, Alawi said concerning Ahmadinejad visit to Iraq.
