PUK Politburo Condemns Qamashli Incident

The official Spokesman of the PUK Politburo, Mala Bakhtiyar, released a statement regarding the Qamashli incident; the following is the full text:
Unfortunately once again Qamashli became a scene of an unrighteous bloodshed against a nation that even has not the right to celebrate its national Day, while we were expecting that the perpetrators who were behind the killings of the previous year’s be brought to justice and the President of Syria Republic not to let such incidents to occur, unfortunately the Nawroz ceremony this year also became a bloody celebration.
The PUK Politburo while condemning this crime committed against the innocent people of Qamashli, at the same time asks to bring perpetrators to justice. The public opinion all over the world, UN, Human Rights Organizations to play their role so that this crime as the previous crimes which were committed against the innocent Kurdish people of Syria might not to be repeated.
The PUK Politburo directs salutations and glory to the resting place of those martyrs who became the victims of Nawroz and liberty, also hopes the wounded to recover soon.

20th Anniversary of Bombarding Sewsenan Area Commemorated

On Saturday, the 20th anniversary of bombarding Sewsenan area with chemical weapons by the ousted Baath regime was commemorated during a ceremony in Karadagh district near Sulaimani sin attendance of Iraq’s first lady, Hero Ibrahim Ahmed, and other senior officials.
The chemical attack against the area in 1988 resulted in 70 casualties.
Speeches of Kurdistan national assembly, PUK, KDP and KCP, were read during the ceremony.

President Barzani: We Strongly Support Iraqi-US Agreement

In an exclusive statement to al-Hayat newspaper, Massoud Barzani, the president of Kurdistan Region, said that it’s important for Iraqis to do their best to achieve National Reconciliation in order to widen public participation which leads to completion of building the Unified Democratic State in all its military, security and political aspects.
“US Forces quick withdrawal decision or redeployment is a US will and reflects its interests, according to this, I think that taking such a decision before securing Iraq against any threats may have bad effects on the US interests and the US administration should consider that. We strongly support signing a strategic agreement between Iraq and US to set the collaboration bases between them”, Barzani said concerning US Forces deployed in Iraq.
Massoud Barzani also said” The stability of Kurdistan Region, from an Iraqi Patriotic point of view is a victory for the democratic political process and a motive to accomplish what have not done yet.”

Presidency of Kurdistan Region Condemn Qameshli Incident

Reports from the Kurdish city of Qameshli, near the Turkish border about 700km north of Damascus, say the Syrian security forces have shot dead three Kurds celebrating the Nawroz celebration, the Kurdish New Year.
Regarding that the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region issued a statement, the following is the full text:
News reported from Qameshli confirm that the Syrian security forces fired Kurdish people who were calibrating the Nawroz ceremony and consequently three Kurds martyred and several others wounded, we severely condemn the crime that innocent civilians to be shot while calibrating the Kurdish New Year.
Those celebrating people did not commit any guilt other than they are celebrating their national day.
But we cannot be remain silent against that savage action against Human Rights and killing over their national identity, we ask Mr. Basher al-Assad, President of the Arabic Republic of Syria, to interfere so that the crime not to be repeated and investigations to be carried out to identify the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.
